Mr Kix,
Another question from ur signature. I notice you have a universal remote - I have been eyeing one for past 15 years and I think I did even buy a cheap one from Amazon 10 yrs back - never tried to use it I guess. Now from my signature you can see I have 5+ remotes and want to get rid of them. Of course I can never get myself to spend 5K+ just for one remote. On Amazon I notice some cheap sans LCD remotes with 4.5 rating from users. You think such remotes will help?
Also is it worth the pain getting it from US or I can get a local one at similar prices? Thanks
Logitech makes the best universal remotes. Yes. They are very expensive. But till you start using them, you don't know what you are missing. My Harmony One is in crippled state right now because the battery was swollen, and I prised it out. Now I don't want to insert it back. But I am now facing withdrawal symptoms.
Harmony remote is not just a remote that can work for multiple devices. It can control them all at once by creating activities such as 'Watch movie' or 'Watch TV', etc. For example, in my 'watch movie' activity, the remote does the following:
- starts the bdp, avr and projector in that sequence
- sets the avr to input blu-ray
- sets the projector to input hdmi
- sets the projector to cinema mode
- opens the bdp tray automatically for inserting disc
All this is done by single touch to the touch screen icon. During the play, the remote's volume buttons control avr volume, the channel +/- control the bluray chapters, etc. and when I press the on/off button all devices are switched off at once. The Logitech remote can be programmed from its SaaS software database. There is no need to input device codes, etc.
But if you are not very keen on spending so high, you can order the 'One-for-all' remote from Amazon.
