The 2013 Plasma Discussion Thread!

Hey Guys ,

Any reviews about the Samsung 51F5500 Plasma , Please recommend if any other plasma
to look for in comparison to this .
Requirements - 3D gaming , Movies ...

And any idea if the F8500 going to be launched any soon in 51 inch in India

For gaming, I suggest LED TV instead.

Just got confirmation today from Panasonic person, they today released their new phones 7k-35k range, new A/cs and LED's. Plasma? he said dealers still have stock and new series won't be coming to India till August for you.. which series will be launched? They know nothing about it.. So yea people who are waiting for new Plasma panels from Panasonic will have to wait long time.. Also as all predicted there are no signs of 51" F8500 for India.. Hence this year is not good for Indian Plasma lovers.. unless you're planning on buying 64" F8500 :)

S60 and lower end??;)
You've got to be kidding.

Well... if s60 is available for 85k, buyers should run for their s60s:yahoo:
But if they can get a gt60, they should be grateful to GOD.:licklips::licklips:

50ST60 for 85K????? That would be wonderful but I suspect they will give only with 1 year warranty.
No. That is 50S60 - without the 'T'. There are significant differences between ST60 and S60. The S60 is more near to UT50 in specs. The differences between ST60 and S60 are:

- the panel in ST60 is neoPDP; not so in S60
- there is no "infinite black pro" in S60
- 12,288 shades of gradation steps in ST60 vs. 6,144 gradation steps in S60
- 24p Smooth Film playback in ST60 but not in S60
- 2 HDMI ports (1 less) in S60
- no SD card support in S60
- 2500 Hz FFD in ST60 vs. 600 Hz Sub-Field Drive in S60 (I really do not know how much difference this makes; probably makes motion smoother in ST60)
- Dynamic Contrast Ratio in ST60 is 1:5,500,000 vs. 1:4,000,000 in S60 (take this with a pinch of salt)
- SmartApps missing in S60 (this may be a good thing as these are useless IMHO)
- and finally, obviously ST60 has 3D features

Still a great deal. Afterall, 3D (the 'T' part) and smart apps are hardly needed. Besides, if you are watching pure DTH and very little of blu-ray, S60 is more than sufficient. If you asked me, I would go for St60 but that is because I am a BD lover.

Now, I am tired of waiting for Panny 2013 Plasma models. I am getting 42XT50 for Rs. 36000 and 42UT50 for Rs. 57000. I will be mostly watching Videocon HD and 1080 HD movies. I know the difference between these two models one is Full HD and other HD ready. For a 42 inch plasma, will any of these model be better or just similar?

Has anyone seen LG 50 inch Plasma 50 PM 6700. It has good features and and has received some good reviews. Price seems to be reasonable as well.

can you guys expalin what this site means it mentioned ST60 /S60 import and stuff like that (u might have to type Ctrl+F st60 to find it) Plasma Tv India Import data & Plasma Tv Import shipment data of India

Very nice site, though I think we need May 2013 data in it. The data till April just has a few sample pieces of Panasonic plasma.

The RM mentioned about S60, but I was not very keen on that one, so I changed the discussion to higher models. I think we will get some information on 22nd or 23rd May.

It is interesting to compare UT50 with S60. Which one is better if both are available in the market at similar price points?

I would not suggest doing that, You should try this year's samsung model instead whichever comes in your price range. atleast they are latest..

In my view , waiting for the 42gt60 would pay you rich dividends.
Keep sammy as the next option.
Afterall, the flagship sammy f8500 was not given the reference rank by hdtvtest even though it being one among the top plasmas.
Personally I felt that all good review houses like whathifi, hdtvtest, cnet though praise sammy for f8500 , the underlying tone suggests that it is not as great as a gt60 let alone vt60 and zt60.

I had seen the 42" one few days back. LG Shoppe did not have the 50" as there is [quote] not so much demand for plasma TVs [unquote]It was nice. Reflections (compared to a 2013 LG 5700 LED) were not bad at all. The LED had more than what I had seen previously.

PQ was definitely better than the LED. But, last years LG plasmas were rubbished by cnet et al, comparing with Samsung budget plasmas.

LG offers extended warranty on plasmas too, unlike Sammy who offer only on LED/LCD range.

Lg plasmas are definitely better than their leds, with decent PQ.

Today I visited two Panasonic stores. One store had P42XT50D and offered me at Rs. 45000. Regarding New plasmas he said this will not be launched till Diwali and that too no 42 inch plasma will be launched.

Another dealer said he has already ordered P50ST60 but was not able to quote the price. The demo of the same will be available after one week. He had P42UT50D fresh piece and offered me at a price of Rs. 56000 with 3 years warranty and 5 3d glasses yes thats five.

Considering I am interested in buying only 42 inch Full Hd plasma I think the offer is lucrative. Any Views?
