The 2013 Plasma Discussion Thread!

Re: The 2013 Plasma Discussion Thread! [Updated with Information]

All the above sets are given "reference status" by hdtvtest.

Hello all

Sorry if this is asked before but are there any plans to launch the ZT60 or VT60 in India by Panasonic?

No idea at all dude. I think Panasonic feels that an st60 has sufficiently deep blacks enough for Indian crowd.
Lousy buggers.

Dirac,

True and worst is they don't even sell the ST in 60/65" and only the S model is there of which I haven't heard many reviews

I might get the Samsung 8 series 64" if I don't see any progress with Panasonic until Diwali

Worst is the 8 series has a pathetic input lag and gaming is a priority

Subtleties of the picture determine who the best is among the top tvs.
Let us see how a vt60 , f8500 and st60 handle them.
A picture speaks thousand words.
I am pasting the same picture images of the above tv sets which are professionally calibrated .

First f8500.

Keep a watch on the white smoke and the mud on the left side of the bonnet of the blue car.

Now vt60.

See the subtleties in the smoke. The diffuse smoke shows the contours of the car right through it. And the mud specks have good definition on vt60. The picture elements are natural than f8500.

Now an st60.

Though it is miles away from vt60 but definitely better in resolving details than a f8500.

It appears that sammy's picture processing engine betrays itself and eventually produces an artificial images than vt60 and st60.

As Eienstein said " subtle is the Lord, but malicious, He is not."

Let us see how a w900 resolves the diffuse white smoke.

It comes very close to vt60 in resolution.
But the catch is that the white stripes on the blue car are not as white as the earlier plasma models. The whites are not really white robbing the punch in an otherwise excellant image.

Re: The 2013 Plasma Discussion Thread! [Updated with Information]

I was talking about subtleties. For practical purposes all would work.
Btw the copied images are not conveying the right meaning. Please go to flatpanelshd site via your laptop and see the actual images.
Leaving everything aside, if we just look at the armor colour and definition of iron man in the images, only vt60 manages to give the right color and punchy definition.

I am new in this forum. After reading lot of discussion my heart is on panasonic plasma models. my budget is around 70-75 k and I am not sure if i go for 50s60 or 50ut50, both are about same price. my primary parameter for choice is PQ. which one have the better PQ, there are no comparison I find in web between them as per PQ. for me 3D may be a good addition, but not necessary one. Could some one please suggest.

Re: The 2013 Plasma Discussion Thread! [Updated with Information]

S60 is full HD and is near equivalent to 2012 model UT50 - in fact most specs match.

If you have the budget and inclination, go for 50ST60; for 90% people, it will be hard for them to make out differences between S60 and ST60 (in the 50" size). If considering 60S60, then DTH SD PQ will take a very slight degradation. Also, consider the screen reflection issue also on S60 - it is not quality shattering but needs more ambient light control than ST60. Do not judge on comments alone - see a demo for yourself - my viewpoint and analysis may be much different that yours.

Hi Mr.just4kix, after reading all these discussion I consider you as an expert and true plasma enthusiast. I am unable to decide between 50ut50 and 50s60, as there price is in same range. 3d is not my primary requirement, but may be a good addition. My primary concern is PQ. If PQ is same I will go for UT. could you please suggest.

UT50 is 2012 model whereas S60 is 2013 model. If 3D is not important to you, go for S60.

Thanx just4kix for this input.I was also having the same confusion between UT50 and S60.But if both are having similar spec in terms of PQ then is it better to get 3D as an additional option in UT50 as they are offered in same price range?

Re: The 2013 Plasma Discussion Thread! [Updated with Information]

Just make sure that the TV set you get is not a display piece, especially UT50.

go for the 50s60...it is brighter and has deep blacks than the 50ut50....if 3D is not your priority then i would suggest you could go for the 50s60

Re: The 2013 Plasma Discussion Thread! [Updated with Information]

I would swear my life on an st50 or st60.

Friends:

I am unable to find the step to find usage hours for P50S60D. Has any of the owners know the same? it is same as how we do it for X30D series? or is it different? (I have personally done it in X30D)

My search on net did not yield any proper result, except the below one, that too is not specifically talking about S60 series.

Please help!!!!

(I am also trying to get this info, in the thread I had started. Since this thread addresses a larger plasma audience, posted the same here. Hope its fine!!!)
