The 2013 Plasma Discussion Thread!

Since I'll be at CES in January, I'll keep an eye out for new models being unveiled.

Also, of all the 4K displays announced, none seem to be plasmas. The technology might have run its course.

---
Compare to latest 4k TV's and its price range of 3Lac ++, i don't think the contents are easily available here to get the best out of it, in our day to day tv watching experience.

Was watching 64inch 64F8500 for 15min, amazing picture quality even with Youtube download video's just for half the price of any 4K TV. ( <1.9lac-- i can give you contacts.)

mY point, atleast here in India we can see Plasma for some more time..TV models like ST and F8500 which has got excellent review will live for some more years in Indian market.

ST60 is rare enough in india that panasonic folks themselves are having a hard time finding one for me. i wish they had f8500 in a lower size, i'd switch in a jiffy. or maybe not. I don't know, electronics last so less these days. my vt20 lasted 165 hours.

Have bee going round for best pricing for 2 models the 64f8500 and the 51f plasma for a friend. Till now the lowest quote i got was 70k for 51f5500 and 1.92 for 64f8500.

Planning to buy in 2 weeks time around Diwali, most dealers are saying to book or buy now as there would be a shortage of stocks around diwali and we may not get immediate delivery specially for the 64F8500.

Samsung would continue to sell Plasmas in India, had a service engineer visit my place he said they dont have any plans to stop. For Panasonic i am doubtful, i visited their brandshop also spoketo Modern world and couple of other places. They do not have many models available also no news if ST60 will come. Only few have the 60" S60 in stock that also is limited.

Have sent you a PM for the 64F8500 details.

Re: The 2013 Plasma Discussion Thread! [Updated with Information]

Hope it happens, as Diwali is round the corner but no news of the ST series availability, nor they have posted anything on their site.

Panasonic brand show room is not receiving 50ST60d during this Diwali sale. next month End they are expecting shipment it seems -Sales Guys Koramanagal Brandshow room.

Still waiting for my replacement. I'll get a call from Pana today with details of all the available 50" models at their company warehouse and with price quotes.

Till now the lowest quote i got was 70k for 51f5500 and 1.92 for 64f8500.

I was given an offer of 1.80 - for the F8500 in Pune: they started quoting 2.10 which included a Soundbar - which I said I did not need. He then said 1.90 to which I casually mentioned that I could get it for 1.80- he immediately agreed and was pestering me to close the deal- I am in no hurry, just testing the waters -and as I was leaving he said we could talk about the price...anyone in Pune wanting more details can PM me.

Re: The 2013 Plasma Discussion Thread! [Updated with Information]

Panasonic 42gt60 plasma wins the best product of the year 2013 award from whathifi.
The best 55 inch goes to 55vt60 plasma.
Best 32 inch tv for 2013 year is the panasonic e6 led.
Sony disappoints. None of their models figure in any category.
Well, last year sony hx850 bagged many awards including 42 inch and 46 inch.
50 inch was bagged by panasonic gt50 and 55 inch was st50.

None of these models are being sold in India. So their international status hardly matters. The only good one (ST60) that is being sold is also hardly to be seen in any showroom including their brandshops. Only one available so far is the low rung S series. So for Indian context Pana Plamas are nearly dead. Still don't know why they wants to kill something people are looking forward to buy.. Only Pana guys can tell.:indifferent14:

With 64F8500 too big for most homes (forget the cost for the time being) and 50ST60 not available, the Sony 46W950 in India wins as the most ideal choice. Not that W950 is the third best, it is just as good with the usuall pros and cons of plasma vs. LED.

If someone asks me on the street, I have a budget of 1.2 to 1.4 for a TV, tell me which TV to buy with my eyes closed - I will tell the person 46W950.

my first post here...and im new to all this....

guys i want to know if i can get a good and latest plasma under 50k?!?!?!?!?!? or maybe upto 55k also.. because if I make a purchase from Vijay sales or Snehanjali here in Mumbai I know that they will bring the price down further.

If yes, which ones and what sizes???? (Brand and model No. will really be appreciated)

and why do plasmas not come with a 1080 full hd resolution and can i connect a dth and watch channels in hd or 1080p movies on a plasma??

They say that plasmas consume higher power, Is it more than a CRT, hahahaha because thats what I have (24" CRT) at home at the moment.

PLEASE HELP

for your budget full hd plasma may not be available ....may be i can suggest two very good leds....the sony42w650 or the panasonic 42e6....both are full hd leds and have got excellent reviews and are good on both SD and HD...

The show room manager was saying this for the past 4 or 5 months and they don't have any clarity whether it will be available or not. So don't count on that.

One of the good VFM plasma available now:
Samsung 43F4900 720p, 3D plasma - Around 44K

Why did you assume Plasma will not come with 1080p Full HD?
1080p plasma wil be costing 70K upwards.

Samsung 51F5500
Panasonic 50S60

+1 to 43f4900

I have checked it. It is really a VFM model. Colour is natural, skin tones are very accurate in soap operas, movies etc. But I haven't unsure how it will fare with blu-ray or 1080p.

ST, ZT can do what Ranbir cannot do as a brand ambassador.

All i can say is "Useless" team sitting and taking decision not to get wonderful tv's to India.

They can say, there is not much demand and no Profits...but will that be a wise decision???

But i'm damn sure, even if they ship just 50 ST TV's it will be "sold out" immediately.

At-least, not to make money..
But these Wonderful TV's can get them very good Credits..How TV's should be.

In Business, you cannot make decision ONLY to make Money always.

46" is a very small size considering the amount of money one would spend for the same. That's the only issue. One can easily buy a 50" Plasma in less than that. Of course if one is hell bent on buying Sony then its different.
