The 2013 Plasma Discussion Thread!

90k for a 42" tv, i would never go for it how good the PQ may be. It would be last years stock as it is not the current model. Please make sure you are not getting a demo piece also review the warranty on the set with the dealer and the company. As Panasonic is exiting the plasma business so what would be their stand on in warranty support would be good to know.

All the dealers here are just clearing stocks and some have even said that, they will not get any new plasma stocks.

It is expensive, I agree Dushie, but sitting next to the 50S60D plasma on one side and the high end 50DT60D LED on the other side, it was a better PQ by far than both!

That's what tempted me, but of course I will have to be rational in decision making, not emotional! 75-80k for it would be a good buy if it was possible maybe.

Also, the 42GT50D has a 3 year warranty but of course the dealer was truthful in that if there is a problem, the chance of a replacement is nil and the replacement would defi be a LED..

Follow your heart. Go for the 2012 best plasma awardee.
Gt50 is superior to st50 gradations wise.
Though its little more darker. This makes the colours pop out more.
Even if its a demo piece, bargain for a better deal.
Just get that dark horse into your house. You will be more pleased in your house than seeing it at the showroom.
Gt50 is a gem.

Yeah, the picture quality of the 42gt50 was amazing with the neo-plasma and higher level of gradations, that's what's tempting me.

Tho of course if there is a problem with it in warranty, Panasonic would almost 100% replace it with a low-grade LED.

Price was around 90k, is it good?

Thanks.

as far as i know panasonic will offer service for their plasmas for the next 3 years....and for a neo plasma panel, 3d, better gradation, better refresh rate, better gradation, better blacks, better colours, overall better picture quality i think gt50 is worth 90k....but you can always bargain and get it for 85k...make sure you get the 3 year warranty and make sure it is not a display piece....if somehow things dont work out for the gt50 get the st60 which is also a neo plasma panel ..i mean if u could stretch your budget.....s60 can be your last option because colours and blacks look spectacular on a neo plasma panel than a non-neo plasma panel....all the best

Thanks for your inputs Zouresh and Dirac.

Of course, the PQ of the GT is miles apart, no 2 things about it!

In fact as you have suggested, the ST60 is actually my first choice, it is worth it for the little bit extra budget, but the problem is that it is completely out of stock!
I am waiting for the ST60 for the last one month to come into stock but it has been a wait in vain, even the company has no idea when it will come, or even whether it will come!

Snapdeal had 42GT50 for 86K yesterday. Today it's gone and the price has been upped to 94K. But if you're getting it for 85-86K after bargaining, it's really awesome deal. That TV is just rocking.

Hmm. An era comes to an end. The Gods finally leave back to heaven.
Those who have them, have them. Those who don't , will never have them.

Just discovered this forum while trying to Google for Panasonic plasma TVs. I am going to pull the trigger on a VT60 here in the US and was wondering what the price for a VT 60 is in India. Its too sad that Panasonic is exiting the Plasma business.

Mate, VT60 series has not been launched in India. The key models from 2013 launched were ST60 & S60...stocks of whish are dwindling or not available at all..

You guys have all the models available and they probably will have stock even after 6 months of discontinuation. VT60 is not available in India. Even ST60 isn't available now.

Hi
Are the 50 inch ST50 or ST60 available anywhere in Mumbai? Is the ST50 3D as well?
Thanks
G

Buddy, I am trying to get the ST60 for the last 1-2 months in Mumbai, but like Dushie says it is competely out of stock!

Zouresh, can you please share where you have seen stock of this beauty available?

Guys, I got a slightly better deal on the 42GT50D and of course I have loved the Picture Quality.
But reading some posts on this forum, I see that shaiju_o_thomas had a bad problem of IR and Burn-In with the GT50D and some others have also talked about it.

Now I know IR and Burn-in could be a problem with any plasma, but is it that the GT50D is more prone to it than the others?

This could be a dampener!

Also, the picture was simply great, but I had a slight bit of feeling during the demo that while watching Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel bowl, was the ball blurring a bit? I will of course check this out once more going in the shop.

I then read somewhere that MOTION BLUR could be an issue on the GT50 and VT50 series, have any of you heard anything about this?

Thanks!
