The 2013 Plasma Discussion Thread!

Re: The 2013 Plasma Discussion Thread! [Updated with Information]

Guys, I finally closed this last sunday on the 8th and like Zouresh said above, the better home theatre experience of the 50 inch over the 42 inch made me go for the S60 finally!
(No doubt though, that if I had got the GT in 50 inches I would have paid more and got it, what PQ it had! :-)

Brought the S60 home last sunday itself but was out of station after that so finally got it installed today and enjoying it!

Thanks for all the inputs and advice guys :-)

Congrats agni. How will you rate your S60 what was the price.

I have booked ST60 one month back, but now they are saying panasonic stops importing ST60 plasma to india. My first consideration was S60 as I was in budget, but after lot of thought and advised from forum member I went for ST60. They are saying S60 is in stock now. Should I get S60 or I will wait for next itaration of ST60 range of samsung plasma(like f5500) and ask for refund, though samsung plasma is the second option in my mind (forum members, what is you advise). My main goal was to buy a plasma before world cup'14, but as pana declared they will stop manufacturing plasma, I changed my mind, and went to buy one.Day after tommorow I will go to great eastern to make final decision.

I just find that S60 and samsung f5500 is in the same price range. Which one is the better TV? though this is may be a long debate.

Buy whichever one you like. F5500 is a smart tv with loads of options. S60 is a scaled down version with minimum smart options and there are no Apps.

Go to Great Eastern and demo both of them and decide.

none of the Tv is in display in great eastern. Do you have any idea where can I demo them within two days. I don't require smart feature in a tv. My only concern is Picture quality and reliability, f5500 has 3d, I don't know how often I will watch 3d in tv, but I am fan of 3d in cinemas. But I don't know how I will enjoy it in home. My heart is to s60 due to PQ and reliability. but mind is thinking why not consider f5500 also.

go for the s60 as it has better PQ than 5500...having done a detailed demo i obseved that the s60 has deeper blacks, well saturated colours, better SD,better brightness, overall much better PQ than the 5500.....even the look of the tv is much better than the 5500....go for it......

Thanks for the input. I have demoed f5500 yesterday at reliance, didn't like much. I will go for 50s60.

Are u getting 3 yrs warranty for s60? I have shortlisted 50e6d and 50s60 and going to get one of these.3 yrs Warranty is a must for me(free or extended) so whichever provides warranty,i will get that.

Have u demoed s60? If so pls give a detailed feedback and about reflection issue. Not able to demo both these models  so blindly going by the feedback i got here so your inputs will be useful

I think you can go blindly with Panasonic 50S60 and warranty comes for 1-year and extended 2-years which will cost you. I checked with Panasonic today again, they're offering 1-year warranty only.

Does the 1+2 yrs warranty applies to both led and plasma? My second question is do u think s60 is better than e6 in terms of pq.

@zouresh can u post some pics of your tv.Should the room be totally dark to avoid reflection?

yes the lighting has to be controlled for the best viewing experience of the s60....the s60 looks very good in a dimly lit room.....s60 is a very good tv with deep blacks(blacks even deeper than the st50 according to cnet),rich colours and the clarity is top notch when you watch blurays,hd videos and hd channels...even sd is decent for a screen of this size.....go for it....

a plasma picture is always better than a lcd or led picture because a plasma can produce natural and realistic images, natural and realistic colours and the blacks are vey much deeper than leds...overall a plasma picture is very rich when compared to led.....again coming to e6 ,the 50 inch is not as good as the 42 inch according to techradar.com......go for the 50s60....you will love it.....
