The Movies I Liked

Re: The Movie I Liked

The man from Earth
One word. Amazing. If you like watching a movie with an intelligent script and brilliant dialogues then do watch it.

This is why I love Hollywood cos they come up with such unique ideas and implement in such a way which we can never even imagine of making.

Not giving any idea of the story as it might destroy the fun.

Lone Survivor [2013]

Lone Survivor (2013) - IMDb

A very good Action/War movie. Story is good, based on true events. Having watched a couple of movies and documentaries on the similar lines, I guess the U.S Army is utterly over confident in their covert operation capabilities and highly under estimate their enemies strength and it's really sad seeing the life of those brave soldiers gone in just like that. Okay, coming back to the movie, the action scenes are very well done, one of my fav scene is the one where the solders fall off the mountain/cliff. Very well done and best till date IMO. Good cinematography and sound mixing. Nice performance by Mark Wahlberg . Worth a watch.

Cheers.

Watched "Twelfth Night or What You Will"

Twelfth Night or What You Will (1996) - IMDb

Shakespeare's comedy of gender confusion, in which a girl disguises herself as a man to be near the count she adores, only to be pursued by the woman he loves.

If you crave for a decent Shakespearean adaptation then look no further than this offering from Trevor Nunn.

Chariot [2013]

Chariot (2013) - IMDb

A good Drama/Thriller movie. Story is good, a thriller which keeps the viewer engaged. Nice performance by some off the shelf actors. Good climax. Worth for timepass watch.

Saving Mr. Banks [2013]

Saving Mr. Banks (2013) - IMDb

A fantastic Comedy/Drama movie. Story is good, centered on the development of the 1964 Walt Disney Studios film Mary Poppins. Good cinematography, screenplay and editing. Very good performance by Tom Hanks as Walt Disney, also good performance by Emma Thompson as the author P.L. Travers and good supporting performance by Paul Giamatti. Worth a watch for all.

Cheers.

Robocop
Nothing great. Nothing bad. What I expected I got. For someone who has seen all Robocop movies should be satisfied with this one. However they could have done a better ending. Sequels should follow.

Ninja: Shadow of a Tear (2013) - IMDb

A good Action/Drama movie. Story is okay, with twist to it in the end, great fight/martial art scenes. Watch this movie only for the fights.

Watched Nebraska (2013) - IMDb last night. I simply loved this movie.

Beautiful, hilarious and heart-touching tale of an old man going to Nebraska to claim his million dollars sweep-stake award with his estranged son... yes, the award is a total sham!! But the son who seemed to lost his father's past long ago... discovers the same once again by following his little fantasy.

The film works due to the excellent portrayal of father-son relationship, an expressionless humor... and acting is avant-garde here...
Definitely an Oscar material... Don't miss it!!

i watched Nebraska, and i liked it, cos i myself like spending time with old people, talking to them abt their life etc

I liked the Woody's wife acting too :)

Captain Phillips ...... Paul GreenGrass and Tom hanks has done it again, based on the true events of US-flagged MV Maersk Alabama, the first American cargo ship to be hijacked by somali pirates, this is strong and edge of the seat material.

Tom Hanks, man, this actor is by far the only one I can say who slips, in to vast spectrum of roles like hot knife in butter, he is effortless and plays roles with so much conviction, that you are left gasping, just take few examples, cast away, Apollo 13 or the awesome The Terminal he is just a powerhouse of a performer.

Even though Tom's performance grips you right from the beginning, the Last 10-15 minutes will shake you completely.

This movie as well is once of the few that actually stays quite close to the actual events, except few which I learnt later via Google most of the events are depicted pretty accurately. A must watch for all movie goers ...... 7/10 for this one.
