The Movies I Liked

John Wick ....... BAD ASS one word ........ this is what I was expecting from The Equalizer, the comparison is straight, both have a bad ass guy, with whom the bad guys screws with and get themselves wiped out. But JW stands tall and and far better.

JW despite of no plot what so ever, no character development, no drama, no humour, still delivers the full punch. It ACTION from word go, action and action, infact the entire movie is like a long action scene.............. and boy oh boy!!!!!.... the coolest stylish action scenes I have seen for a long time .... It has one of the top gripping, fast, precise, hard hitting and meticulously choreographed, brilliant action sequences of all time ...

The action scene in the night club might remain the all time best in the point n shoot gun battle, if I may put it that way.... ......will have you grasping your fists because of the sheer intensity of it.

Truly satisfying .....:)

Performance wise, well who ever says that Reeves has a blank expression might be right but this is exactly what was needed in this movie, the blank, cool, fearless expression with terror in the eyes nicely played with the entire feel the movie had.
Kenue Reeves Just rocked through out the movie ....

This movie deserves a 7.5/10 just for the brilliant action sequences .....

Movies I watched recently :-
Birdman - Killer acting.Especially the volatile chemistry between Keaton and Norton.Great direction.Climax is killer.

Taken 3 - Timepass movie.Non-stop Action.Liam Neeson whatelse you want.

Normal [TV movie 2003] - Tom wilkinson and Jessica Lange. Very good.I can't think of one bad movie Tom wilkinson has been in.It's a pity, he so underrated.

The equalizer - If you liked John Wick, you will like this too.

The Gambler - Boring until the climax.

Whiplash - You just can't miss this one.JK Simmons insane acting.I had shivers running down my spine when he yells at Teller.

The Judge - I still haven't figured it out if I liked it or not.RDJ is class. He's Iron man after all.Robert Duvall good acting but not as good to deserve an Oscar nomination.

Limitless - Epic movie.Saw it recently.Bradley Cooper perfect casting.

Going to watch Sinister tonight.Ethan Hawke horror movie.Trailer looked badass.

Kindergarten Cop (1990) - IMDb - A good comedy with Arnold Schwarzenegger and lots of kids. Out of step with the usual Arnold movies, this one is more comedy than action and it works well. The pretty Penelope Ann Miller fits in nicely along with Linda Hunt, worth at least a rental to see Arnold in a different avatar.

^^ I think you saw is on Movies Now .... I remember it was coming on some channel yesterday or day before ....... I saw it when I was a teen ...... an okiesh movie

Nope, Blu-ray. It was dirt cheap on Amazon... like $5 or $7. Got a bunch of movies with free shipping.

Twister (1996) - IMDb - The SFX movie of the 90s, the tornadoes were a blast, and the action does not let up for long.

Don't look too much into the story... just grab popcorn and let it rip. The audio is exceptionally good in Dolby TrueHD (unfortunately no DTS HD), the PQ is good though not exceptional. Still a lot of fun, especially in a 5.1 or 7.1 setup, this one can be a new reference in audio to showcase your setup. Lots of audio detail, pinpoint placement, and some real deep booms and thunderclaps that will give a good workout to any system and especially the subwoofer. Highly recommended, especially for the Dolby TrueHD audio track.

You bet the Blu-ray version is great and the sound quality is good too with lot of activity on the surrounds.

The Equalizer (2014) - IMDb - Here is another movie that will replace the reference standards for your audio and video gear. Superb PQ and SQ, unleashed in DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1. Video is still MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) and not the latest H.265, but still is a stunner... even for all the shots at nighttime. The Blu-ray both looks awesome and sounds amazing... the kind that will blow your socks off. An excellent addition to any Blu-ray collection.

Now coming to the movie, its the usual tale of a good samaritan who takes on the mob for a teen prostitute and yes makes them regret it big time. Denzel is as always great, and brings a certain steel hardness to his character's vigilante. Excellent fights and excellent audio accompanying the fights... make for an excellent experience with the right equipment. Even otherwise its a good movie, and any Denzel fan will not be disappointed with it.

The Thomas Crown Affair (1999) - IMDb - Pure fun, about a bored billionaire (Pierce Brosnan) who steals expensive paintings and expensive works of art. Rene Russo plays an insurance investigator whose job is to catch Brosnan and recover a stolen painting.

Lots of fun, a movie that will keep you immersed till the very end and even leave you satisfied at how things end. Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo are perfectly cast and deliver amazing performances, and Denis Leary is along for the ride.

They just don't make movies like these anymore... highly recommended.

All these movies ...Twister, Thomas Crown affair I watched it when I was in late teens ..... you got to catchup a lot .. :)

The Specialist (1994) - IMDb - The movie was average back in the day when I saw it... but on repeat viewing now on Blu-ray it actually deserves a better rating... maybe its all the Sharon Stone nudity or the Sylvester Stallone muscles... or the lack of such leading men and women today. Even James does a fine job as the bad guy... Not much to the story actually. Ms. Stone wants revenge on the mobsters who killed her family and seduces Mr. Stallone to do the killing on her behalf, the killing itself is done by bomb explosions.

The DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 did not get very high marks on Blu-ray... but honestly I cannot tell the difference, sure its not pristine audio (Kindergarten Cop from around that time was in 2.0), but all said and done it does sound fine. Lots of loud explosions for the most part when it comes to action though.

Worth a watch... at least for the leads and a good action entertainer. Sharon Stone is pretty much the hottest stunner in this one and in Total Recall, even more so than in Basic Instinct. Ditto for Sylvester Stallone.

I wonder why are you viewing all the pretty avgerage movies all over again ....? Just coz its on bluray?

Birdman (2014) - IMDb

In the spirit of winning the oscar, I saw this movie last weekend.

The base premise of the movie of a faded comic strip hero, trying to discover himself as an actor on Broadway is interesting.

Michael Keaton and Ed Norton keep you engaged.

Parts of the movie are interesting and parts just drag on.

As usual, Oscars tend to go to movies that depict themselves (like the Artist) than for other topics.

The movie was decent esp. for the end. If there was no hype, I doubt many would have bothered seeing it.

Oh Man!!! You made me remember once of my top movies of all time "Life of David Gale" it was crazy awesome ....with a blowing twist (revelation rather) at the end climax

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
