The movie is about kidnap of a journalist in Pakistan.

The movie has been shot extensively in Pakistan, and a little has been shot in India too.

Some new movies that I am looking forward to in 2009.

1. Terminator Salvation with Christian Bale acting as John Connor.
2. Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen
3. The Watchman - another movie based on a comic strip.
4. X-Men Origins:Wolverine. This a prequel story of Wolverine. Should be very interesting.
5. Avatar. This is a new movie by James Cameron filmed in 3D.
6. Ice Age - Dawn of the Dinosaurs

Is there any other interesting movie coming our way?

I think you should add Disney Pixar "Up" in this list. You will see the trailer if you bought the Wall-e DVD, the anticipation for this pic like any other Pixar fare is pretty high. Its directed by Pete Docter who gave us Monsters Inc.

Personally I cant wait to see Dev D. I know its we are talking about English pics but cant help mention this. Looks like a truly groundbreaking cinema. Kudos to Anuraag who doesnt care a hoot about what commercial cinema demands. Way to go.

Outlander

Pretty standard action fare. Vikings vs. Alien and the vikings pretty much get wiped out till the hero steps in and rescues them. BTW the hero is from another planet and his spaceship crashes on earth around 709 A.D. when vikings were vikings. The movie does remind one a lot of Beowulf which was a great movie and lots of fun too.

After a long time, I enjoyed a new (to me) movie toay. Saw the movie called Traitor. This is the story of how a US ex soldier and devout Muslim, Samir Horn, uses his professional training to help terrorist build and use bombs across the world. Two FBI agents track Samir and link him to a number of bombings in the Middle East. France and other places. There is a major twist to the whole story, but I won't reveal that here and spoil others fun.

Don Cheadle plays the role of Samir very well.

The DVD I got was of good quality with both the picture and sound being top notch.

I liked it too. I remember the "explosion" at the very beginning when the car gets blown up when Don Cheadle is a kid. It sure rattled all the window panes in my bedroom. I guess the FX was more effective since it was so unexpected.

Anil Kapoor, Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif

The movie did not do well at the box office, but i liked the movie.

The audio and video quality was satisfactory.

I would rate Anil Kapoor's performance among the top 10 of his career.

hi, was in hydbad for a couple of days -----got a chance to watch ARUNDATHI (telugu) was really impressed ,though a scene was copied from the chinese movie-HOUSE OF FLYING DAGGERS , i still felt it was a very well made movie ,very gripping from start to finish----FANTASTIC SPECIAL EFFECTS make it a MUST WATCH---------hats off to the team who made this movie

Caught up on it today. Absolutely rocks. Must watch. Should have gone to the Oscars instead of Slumdog Millionaire.

Wow, this is news to me. But I guess Telugu being my mother tongue never tried subtitles on any Telugu DVD. Coming to Arundathi I don't think we would get anything better than a cam print right now though as you mentioned.

I went to Landmark today and bought the YUVVRAAJ DVD, along with a few other Blu-ray disks and Audio CDs. The movie is good but the audio and video on the DVD is pathetic

It has a 16x9 video sitting inside a 4x3 video with gray bars on the top and bottom. So the effective pixel count is 56% of what we get in a 16x9 movie on DVD. I have encountered this problem earlier on the Song only DVDs, but rarely on a full movie DVD.

The 5.1 audio mastering too is as poor. The bass is booming whereas the vocals are receded. The stereo option sounds slightly better. I was shocked even more as the audio CD for this movie has a great recording, with full bodied vocals, a bit unusual for ARR these days.

totally agree`with you ,i too had rented this movie from channel 9 ,the quality of the dvd released by the company ULTRA is totally pathetic,cudnt even watch it for 10 min

hi moserw,if u dnt know, chk out the DVDs of POKIRI., ATHADU,, VIKRAMARKUDU,, CHATRAPATHI,, HAPPYDAYS (i thnk all these are from a company called Balaji video) the audio in DTS is great , price- 150rs each, bought at STar bazaar, bangalore

Good Blu-ray transfer. Interesting action movie, though less Bond like.
I happened to watch the first 20 minutes of the movie with Dobly Digital Surround and then moved to uncompressed PCM. It was like night and day in terms of clarity. I feel so bad I spent 10 years of my life with the Dolby Digital folks

Sharad, Can you explain the difference between Dolby Surround and Uncomp PCM. I know what Dolby is but like to know more about uncomp PCM. Is it something available only on hig def sound formats?

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans...

A prequel to the original Underworld movies and too bad there is no Kate Beckinsale in it. Standard action fare, no big stars and nothing great to write about. Fans who follow the series will want to catch up on how it all began. As for me, I am pulling out the DVDs with Kate Beckinsale and going to watch them with wife who has not been initiated into the Underworld universe yet.
