The Movies I Liked

As much as I am a fan of Al Pacino, in some ways I respect De Niro a little more as he is able to bring that extra little bit of versatility into his roles.

For example, I can never visualize Al Pacino pulling off Analyze This or Analyze That or even Meet the Fockers.:)

No slight on Pacino of course. But I just value versatility along with talent.

Funny I was thinking along the same lines watching 'Any Given Sunday' this week. 2 of the greatest to ever stand in front of a camera, IMHO...

Yep I also agree with you guys. They bring almost everything what we expect too see in a movie. My De Niro collection is
Godfather part 2
Analyze this
Bronx Tale
Taxi driver
Casino
Mean Streets
Raging Bull
Meet the fockers
Meet the parents
Ronin
Untouchables
Heat
Rightous kill
Jackie Brown
Goodfellas
Cap Fear

Can anybody suggest any other must have for De Niro
Thanks.

Thnaks Grubyhalo. Will definitely try and get it. Got Donnie Brasco day before yesterday. But to my surprize all the DVD players in my house refused to play it. Now waiting for a replacement.

Vantage Point

Interesting concept of shooting the movie from the viewpoint of different characters seeing the shooting of the president of the US and moving the story slightly ahead. If it had been told as a linear story it may not have been much to tell but the direction and editing is top class.

8MM2 - Thriller

I watched on DVD in 4 x 3 - Full Screen.

A very good movie, a unique ending with a great suspense, the last one minute scene was out of the world. It reminded me of the great last one minute scene of this movie "The Taking Away of Pehlam One Two Three"

It will be nice that other members also post the movies which they have liked.

'Analyze That' automatically suggests itself for your collection. I will see if I can recall more of his must-see movies.

Among these, "The Score" is brilliant. And if De Niro was not enough, you have Marlon Brando as well. Pure bliss.

El maquinista

Trevor Reznik is a lathe-operator who suffers from insomnia and hasn't slept in a year. Slowly, he begins to doubt his sanity as increasingly bizarre things start happening at work and at home. Haunted by a deformed co-worker who no one seems to think exists, and an ongoing stream of indecipherable Post-It notes he keeps finding on his fridge, he attempts to investigate what appears to be a mysterious plot against him and, in the process, embroils two women in his madness.

A History of Violence
Tom Stall, a humble family man and owner of a popular neighborhood restaurant, lives a quiet but fulfilling existence in the Midwest. One night Tom foils a crime at his place of business and, to his chagrin, is plastered all over the news for his heroics. Following this, mysterious people follow the Stalls' every move, concerning Tom more than anyone else. As this situation is confronted, more lurks out over where all these occurrences have stemmed from compromising his marriage, family relationship and the main characters' former relations in the process.

Defiance
On the run and hiding in the deep forests of the then German occupied Poland and Belorussia (World War II), the three Bielski brothers find the impossible task of foraging for food and weapons for their survival. They live, not only with the fear of discovery, contending with neighboring Soviet partisans and knowing whom to trust but also take the responsibility of looking after a large mass of fleeing Polish Jews from the German war machine. Women, men, children, the elderly and the young alike are all hiding in makeshift homes in the dark, cold and unforgiving forests in the darkest times of German occupied Eastern Europe.
