Vinyl I am listening to...

It was a great day spinning lot of Lps

Very good albums indeed.

Namkeen - Rahon Pe Rehte Hain by Kishore Kumar gives me a feeling of ride and indeed the song sequence was Sanjeev Kumar being a truck driver and his journey was depicted. Aanki Chali Banki Chali by Asha B is another masterpiece. Gulzar's folk based rhyme/lyrics gets a life with Pancham da's music. "Panta Bhate Tatka Begun Pora" is a bengali phrase revolving around a rural platter. Bari Der Se Megha Barsa is a classic. Rest are too good.

Katha- Maine Tumse Kuch Nahin Manga - what a song by Kishore Kumar. I think the music director is very less known RaajKamal

Basera - Each and every song is gem. Aaungi Ek Din Aaj Jaun - very cozt number close to my heart. Rest are too good.

Naram Garam - An unsual tune very earthy. Hamein Raston Ki Jaroorat by Asha B is another version of Saagar Kinare Dil Yeh Pukare.

Sunny- Jaane Kya Baat Hain is track wherein the bengali version was sung by Asha B and the hindi track by Lata M.

Mahiruha, you must have enjoyed the session

^^ Ankahee is a very well recorded album. Even if one doesn't like listening to Bhajans, two of them by Pt. Bhimsen Joshi based on Classical raga are very good. Probably the only instance he sang for a Hindi movie.
Ankahee
Regards

Hello Hiten,
this is indeed an outstanding album with great recording and great music. I just watched the movie by chance and got the LP. I never heard such great sounding bhajans. Today I heard this LP five times at a go.:)
Thanks

Hello Sourav,
yes I loved the session. Music was great and so is the recording in those albums. The 45 rpms ones are truly special. We are fortunate that we get to listen to a bengali version of many songs composed by RDB and his father SDB. The song Aaungi Ek Din Aaj Jaun also has a bengali version " aasbo arekdin aaj jai" in one of the puja LPs. That too is brilliantly recorded and sung by Asha Bhosle.
Thanks

Hi Mahiruha

First press Abhimaan too is electronically processed stereo

Hello Prem,
I also found the same thing in the LP label but somehow it sounded better. My copy is very good but not NM and has some surface noise. Hence I was wondering if somebody heard a noise free version of the first press.
Thanks.

Hi Mahiruha

The Abhimaan I have is first press Odeon with double circle and is noise free. I also have a later press which is also noise free. The later press sounds a little thin but otherwise not much difference in the two presses. The Electronically Processes effects is less evident on Abhimaan as compared to some others like Jheel Ke Us Paar or Manchali or Humshakal

Exactly Anil.. In just read the news ..

His Islamic songs were an ear worm in my 20's.. Its just a month back I picked up 5 LPs of him in Moore Market , Madras..

May his soul rest in peace .

BTW, his voice was so influential that, it even helped a party win a state election.. I was in school then :)

Dhongee - Haye Re Haye Tera Ghoonghta..

This LP I heard in Kolkata at my friend's place in late 80s and this song always remained in my mind.

In Nach Baliye reality show, once Varun Badola and Rajeshwari performed on it in 90s and it again instigated me to get it, when I saw the recording of it on net sometime back.. and finally I got it.

What a magical composition..

And thanks to FM Shafic for finally making this Dual working for me.. long wait but was worth to wait..!

Hi, I am looking to buy a Step up transformer (passive) to install between my MC cartridge and MM phono preamp, where can I buy this. Many thanks

Hello Anil,
This is a fantastic song. Remind me of the 80's too. This one is tough to get on a CD, like many other great songs from 80's. :)
Reminds me of one more song which used to come in the same compilation cassettes -- Geff Harrison: Bad new york city. :ohyeah:

Listened to Sherley Bessy, a demo/testing record, Mohammad Rafi, Jagmohan, WHAM, Ossibissa, Paul Anka and some other Hindi movie songs.

My OB combination is quite attractive to me so I am listening to it more and more.

The demo/test record literally put sound foundation of confidence on my own set up.
