Vinyl I am listening to...

Yes, Angel and also the ringed Odeon records. What great mono sound! Those actually don't need any bass-treble adjustments on the amplifier. They play excellently without any equalization. However, the later pressings need coloration - I need to enhance the higher frequencies while playing those reissues.

Few for this weekend....

I see an interesting question attached to the Alag Alag record: Is this the only T Series album of RD Burman. And we all know the answer: No. There are many T Series soundtracks of RD. Examples: Samundar, Dacait, Mardon Wali Baart, Naamumkin, Ek Se Bhale Do, Zabardast, Ek Main Aur Ek Tu, Rama O Rama, Jurrat, Anokha Rishta, etc.

Normally I avoid collecting T Series records (except a few titles like Aashiqui and Dil Hai kya mantha Nagi,Tezab etc)... hence I would have missed these..
Anyway, I will have an eye for these titles.

Among the RD albums I listed, Naamumkin was never released on vinyl. Only cassette, and later CD. Three magical numbers: bahut door hoke bahut paas ho tum, ae zindagi, saathi aisa lagta hai. Pancham's best from the late eighties.

Out of the rest, Dacait had super stereo sound. One of the best by T Series. Samundar was in mono, but I find the sound to be very balanced. Zabardast and Ek Se Bhale Do had good mono. Even Shatru and Mardon Wali Baat had ok audio. However, the weak recordings were Rama O Rama, Jurrat, and Aag Se Khelenge. I have two clean LPs of Rama O Rama, but am disappointed with the gain.

As far as song quality is concerned, I don't like Aag Se Khelenge or Jurrat. I love the music of Pancham in the rest of these T Series albums. For example, I love the melody in ae saagar ke lehron, aaja o meri zamborin, laapa chaanga, rang-e-mehfil, jhar jhar behta hai, rama o rama, and the list goes on. I hope you get hold of some of these and like the songs too!

Introduced by none other than the great Satyajit Ray...this is a very nice recording of an almost extinct instrument called ESRAJ. Tabla accompanied by another great Ustad Keramatullah Khan.

Thanks Bhaskar da. I am seeing this record first time. Am guessing this is not so common.

And ithought RDBs Tamil film Poo Mazhay Pazhiyuthu was by T Series ! and it sounds good!

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
