Vinyl I am listening to...

Another nice sounding LP (Sanam Teri Kasam) in stereo - gatefold cover first print LP
Nice one.
In addition to SADMA LP, I use SANAM TERI KASAM LP also to (esp the song "Janna o meri Jaana") to test the performance of the TT and the sound system.

Recorded with good volume and nice effects. An overall good effort from MIL.

Hi Anil,

Even MIL/ Polydor did a fantastic job in keeping the analogue flavour (to some extent) in the ACD of Sanam Teri Kasam. It sounds fantastic in back to black and in a combo with Teri Kasam ACD.

Sadma is really a nicely recorded LP.

Sourav,

Sanam Teri Kasam was indeed a great recording. However, it was not a stereo recording, but excellent mono. Many of the Sound Track Label MIL pressings were in mono, but they sounded clearer than many HMV stereo pressings. For example, Baseraa, Yeh Vaada Raha.

On the other hand, Teri Kasam, Zamane Ko Dikhana Hai, Abdullah were all in pure stereo. And what super sound separation! It is such a joy to listen to all these soundtracks.

Great snap of STK!

Last night, I was listening to the LP record of Naram Garam. Amazing sound - the audio CD sounds tinny in comparison. The vinyl has a "thump," if you know what I mean. That perfect bass-treble balance. Love vinyl.

Naram Garam is very mellow OST on account of the tunes. Hamein Raston Ki Jaroorat Nahin Hain by Asha B is of same tune of Saagar Kinare Dil Yeh Pukare from Saagar.

Shatrughan Sinha lend his voice (with same inimitable style as his dialogie delievry) in one of the fun songs. This is 45 rpm LP.

Hi NatureLover,

I have two copies of Naram Garam. A used one, which I had purchased from Seeta Phones on Avenue Road back in 2006, and a brand new one, which I had purchased from bollywoodvinyl.in. Yes, I got a mint record for Rs 395 from that site. I have purchased a few from there, and mostly got mint or near mint records. But many of those good ones are too expensive. However, Naram Garam is not; it is really low-priced! And lovely songs, and recording done justice on vinyl by Inreco.

Sourav,

Imaan and Charitraheen - two favorites on EP. How I wished the company had released the complete songs on LPs. But 45 rpm LPs had not started in India in the mid-1970s, right?

Would anyone know if the mono eps of the Electronically Processed Stereo Lps are original mono or a stereo mix down?
My hunch is, since early tape machines were already two track all one needed were two microphones, so recording could very well be in stereo. Don't know the process of how sound was synchronised with film reels. So to cut labour and to be compatible with those days record player possibility of stereo mixed to mono separately or in the tape recording machine itself is there. Where are the master tapes of early Hindi movies stored is a mystery.

Hiten, if recording was in stereo why would they do ERS? Wouldn't they release it in pure stereo?

Prem,
probably it would have been like this. first release music on 45 in mono format and when songs become popular release complete album in reproduced stereo. I am just guessing.
Regards.

No. I don't think it would have been like that. If you notice it is usually the big films like Bobby, Daag, Yaadon Ki Baarat, etc which were released in ERS. For these producers, the Lps would have been the official music release.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
