Amazing record from CBS Masterworks Portraits series: Mozart the Complete Flute Quartets: Rampal - Stern - Schneider - Rose. And thanks Mr Kuruvilla Jacob for sending this wonderful record my way :).

Gave me new-found respect for Jean-Pierre Rampal's flute. Need to dig out that double CD of Rampal that I have lying somewhere.

Recommendation: pick up whatever CBS Masterworks and Masterworks Portrait you come across. They are usually very good. Like this.

I don't know how but vkirti, you keep posting the same record titles with exactly same album arts that I have in my collection. Forces me to infer at least 2 things: that we have very similar taste at least in this genre of music (old hindi classics) and most likely our sources are same too.:)

Regards.

Harry Belafonte , Live at Carnegie Hall..

My children are enjoying it, and waiting for the Banana Boat song to come..

One of my favourite recordings and I really love the 'Matilda' track. I even have the Classic Records version of it as an 8 LP set @ 45rpm pressed only on one side! Have stowed another brand new copy of the same away as an investment.:ohyeah:

:) I think we definitely share the same taste in music , also we seem to have turned to vinyl at the same time so seem to be picking up the same albums.

Currently listening to " Kabhi palkon pe ansoon hai" by KK in Harzaee ... beautiful song...

Grieg's Piano Concerto in A Minor, Op 16, John Ogdon piano, New Philharmonia Orch, Paavo Berglund cond. The B side is Schumann's Piano Concerto in A Minor.

I like this album so much I went and bought myself a second copy.

I think i have a soft corner for piano as well as violin concertos in minor keys.

Dear VKirti,

Thanks for posting. Alibaba Aur 40 Chor LP has excellent stereo reproduction. Enjoy listening.

Thanks, yes it is a very good sounding LP. I particularly like the first number by Lataji " Aa ja sare Bazaar" one of her underrated numbers i think.

Was spinning Getz/Gilberto feat. Antonio Carlos Jobim. The album is a deadly combination of Joao Gilberto's relaxing vocals, Stan Getz's breathy sax, and Astrud Gilberto's limited vocal range but nevetheless charming vocals.

Right now it is Horizon by Carpenters. This includes a cover of the Eagles' Desperado. Carpenters always brings back warm and fuzzy memories of early childhood.

Spinning Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in D Major, Op 35, probably ranking as one of my all-time favourite western classical pieces. The violinist on this record is Christian Ferras, with the Philharmonia Orchestra, Constantin Silvestri conducting.

I just heard another version of the same composition with David Oistrakh playing the violin.

Incidentally, on both records the B sides are Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E Minor Op 64.

Incidentally, I have the SACD copy of the same Tchaikovsky Concerto by Joshua Bell. A very fine interpretation by someone who is considered one of the finest living violinists.

These two pieces seem to be very popular with violin virtuosos.

What edition of Abbey Road is that? I've not seen one with the white apple logo before.

Stuff i've been spinning recently:

1) Grinderman - s/t
2) Peter Buck - s/t
3) Nick Drake - Pink Moon (box set)
4) My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
5) Band of Horses- Everything all the time
