BTW how is 55D8000 .??

D8000 adds Micro LED Dimming, Clear Motion 800,better design and some minor features. But quite frankly I would say if you are getting a Samsung then get the D6600 don't bother with D8000. It has way too many PQ issues and significant back light uniformity issues. Google Samsung D8000 LED issues and you will know. Avoid!

So is D6600 a decent choice then .??
Especially when there are not much choices to choose from i.e Sony
EX720 ( NX is not in 55" ) & Sammy D6600 .??

Yes. I wish I could have asked you to go for the EX720 but I just can't considering the major issues it has with 3D performance.

Does the D6000 come in 55"?? If yes, that would be a good choice. I did not see much (infact any) difference between them.

Okay , and the SD & HD performance of D6600 is on par or better than EX720 .??

Also , should i consider LG 5700/6500 for any reason .?? Coz i read that apart from a good 3D performance LG has the best 2D to 3D conversion ....

How is the 2D to 3D conversion for D6600 & EX720 .?? :o

If you care ONLY about 3D then LG LW6500 is THE TV for you.

But 2D PQ is not as good as EX720/D6600.

The LG has a contrast ratio of only about 1500:1 compared to 4500:1 of the EX720. The only area it is as good as EX720/D6600 is colors.

2D to 3D conversion is worst in EX720, little better in D6600 and quite a bit better on the LG sets.

But even on the LG its nothing but a gimmick. Nobody watched 2D converted to 3D. No TV does it right not even the LG. So even though LG might be "best" its still far away from what is desired and "watchable and enjoyable".

2D as I mentioned earlier EX720 and D6600 are almost the same with the only difference being Sony is Matte and Samsung is Glossy.

Wow thanks a lot for that insight you gave .:yahoo:

Now i saw the 3D on LG LW6500 and was blown away .... It had so much depth in 3D and it provided 3D effects even at an angle .

But I'm refraining to buy LG as a brand , considering Sony & Samsung are considered premium in LCD's ....

Also I saw 3D On EX720 and couldn't even tell that it was 3D :indifferent14:

And in terms of looks D6600 looks stunning , while EX720 Is a plane matte ...

I wasn't able to demo the 55" D6600 coz its not available anywhere in my city . So Can you please tell me that How is the 3D of D6600 in effect as compared to LG's .?? I mean apart from the strain on eyes , does Samsung provide on par if not better depth/brightness of 3D as LG does .? And does Samsung provide 3D effects at angles too as LG does .

I know these are very different techs but considering that fact that I'm about to invest hell of a money , are the 3D effects on D6600 provide an enjoyable experience .??

I'll answer that for you but before that I want to ask you a Question. What 3D content will you be viewing on the TV ? Where will you source the content from ?
Do you have an Xbox360 or a PS3 ?

Also LG is in no way a "less" premium brand than Sony or Samsung. LG has made some of the best LCD Tvs out there in the LHX55, the LE8500 and a few others.
The only reason I do not recommend the Cinema 3D models is that 2D PQ is not as good as Samsung and Sony models. And mostly you are only going to watch 2D.

Are you going to watch 3d every time you switch On the tv.

^
Yes that is why I asked him about what 3D content he is going to watch and where he is going to get it from.
Most people get into the hype of 3D and after they buy they realize "Oh! Where do I get 3D content, there isn't much to see and what is available is too expensive."
If someone genuinely has experienced 3D a lot and loves 3D, has an Xbox 360/PS3/Nvidia 3D vision with 3D games, is willing to spend about 1.5k Rs on a 3D Bluray then its well worth it. But otherwise just to watch a few hours of sample clips its not worth it.

No I'm not having an Xbox or a PS3 .....
Will plan to buy either a bluray player or a PS3 after i buy the TV .....

Currently I'm thinking of downloading Ripped 3D 1080p's movies from the internet and transfer them to a USB drive .
Content would mostly be pirated 3D 1080p's ( either mkv or avi ) ;)

Will the Samsung be able to play 3D 1080p mkv from a usb drive .??:o

Okay.
Samsung D6600 TV will have good 3D depth and pop but not as good as the LG Cinema 3D.

Yes I believe the Samsung D6600 can play 3D mkv files just fine.

And lastly, yes you can watch normal content in 3D but trust me you won't be using the 2D to 3D conversion. As I mentioned earlier its just a gimmick, nothing more.

Okay , i can also hook up my laptop via HDMI cable to the TV to play anything right ( incl 3D games ) ??

Also , does playing 3D mkv from a usb drive work on Samsung .?

And also as there are different encoders who rip bluray movies in an mkv container differently , do you have any insight on a particular type of Video & audio codec'd mkv , would it play via USB .?? :o

Please specify your laptop make/model. Only then I can confirm whether you can or not.

And yes 3D mkv can be played via USB with the Samsung.

And you do not think you have to worry about codec support as long as its a side by side mkv 3D movie.

I have a Sony Vaio FZ440 E .

BTW What has the model to do with playback from a laptop via HDMI on TV .??

Also , here are the details of a mkv movie :

Please suggest whether it would be supported by USB .??
