Happy Father’s Day to all the jazz dads on this thread! :)
An appropriate track for the occasion below. The entire album is an absolute treat for Blue Note and J Jazz lovers.

Also a time to remember Horace Silver and his long 28 years with Blue Note. Makes me wonder who's had the longest ever contiguous stint with a record label

Another killer, enrici rava.... Gotta love these reverb drenched sounds, especially horns

Wow! And I hadn't heard of Enrico Rava until now! Turns out he's 84 years old. I'm sure a search for his albums will bring out some real gems.

And always so useful to get recommendations on this thread with a line or two about the music. Thanks Jenson

Rava plays Rava is a fun album to start... Sparse, lot of space

Tati, is melancholic, beautiful to play middle of night

I like his approach and style..

I believe he has done a few albums with Pablo Fresu, who recently performed in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru, accompanied by Trilok Gurtu. Fresu too is a great artiste

I had started a thread long ago, but i don't think it's very active. But let us all use this thread to post information about upcoming jazz shows featuring renowned artistes

Here's Fresu with the Cuban pianist Omar Sosa accompanied by Trilok

Both Fresu and Sosa are outstanding. I'm not a big fan of Trilok though, nor of any percussionist who uses buckets, cans and bottles to showcase his talent :)

Rava is a gem! In our circle we consider him very highly - think of a modern version of Miles with a prolific body of work. His signature tone and phrasing is fabulous once you start to recognize his music. Here is one of his earlier works which established him on the Euro jazz scene.
