amazon.co.uk - free shipping to india

My order for "Planet Earth - Special Edition [Blu-ray][Region Free]" has been cancelled by Amazon.co.uk since they could not procure the item. It appears that their supplier has informed them that the item is no longer available and they asked me to try other sellers. I don't know if that means the Blu-ray is no longer available forever or just the near future?!

Don't lose heart; the stock is dynamic. It'll be back soon.

Hi friends,

As mentioned in my earlier post in this thread, I had placed an order of certain blu rays with Amazon uk on 29th July and the same was dispatched the next day. The estimated delivery date was 24th August. Its a month now from date of dispatch and a week past the estimated delivery date, still I have not received my order.

Most of the forum members have said that they have got their orders delivered in 7 days or 15 days. So I am a bit worried now. What you all suggest? Should I wait for few more days or raise the issue with Amazon??

Thanks, I hope so too. The Blu-ray is also directly available from BBC Shop UK for GBP 24.25 with a shipping cost of GBP 7.50. That's GBP 31.75 and is more than double of what it originally sold for on Amazon.co.uk. Way too expensive!

Hi Vishal, I would suggest you contact Amazon.co.uk. Orders shipped by them usually arrive sooner, so yours should not be taking so long. However, you must keep in mind that if you contact Amazon and they provide a replacement order, there is still a possibility that you might receive the original order, leaving you with 2 copies of the Blu-rays. Most of the time, Amazon asks people to keep the second copies as compliments since the cost of shipping them back to Amazon would be prohibitive.

I think you would be getting them anytime now. Also in the meantime contact your local post office and ask them if they've got anything from Foreign post. I've once received my order after more than a month's wait. Don't forget to send a mail to Amazon customer care, they would surely help.

Hi friends,

If this is the case then I will wait for another fortnight and if I don't receive my order till then, will take up this issue with Amazon. Meanwhile, as suggested, I would contact my local post office to check whether any of my international parcel is lying with them.

Thanks a lot and will keep you posted.

Dear Vishal, i feel if the date by which you should have received the goods has passed it is better to inform Amazon via email. I had this problem from Amazon USA a few years back. Once you inform them they are aware of the problem and then you can wait for sometime and then decide what to do. Most probably you will recieve it soon but they should know about the delay.

I ordered couple of Blurays on 24th n got the package yesterday.. no customs.. :clapping:

I wrote to amazon about this delay and got a pretty quick reply from them. They have asked me to wait till 10th September and if I don't receive my order till then, then would write them back. I hope I receive my order before that date as I don't want them to again ship the new set of blu rays, as that would mean a wait for another 15-20 days atleast..

Your package is definitely stuck with customs and you will receive it eventually. But you may have to pay customs duty most likely. :( This happened to me twice.

I already expected that I would be charged customs as the forum members in Mumbai have indicated that they have mostly been charged with customs. So I would wait for another fortnight max and hope that my order is delivered by that date.

At long last I am welcoming myself to the previleged club of those who pay customs duty. Yes, after a stint of 16 contiguous orders without the customs slapping any duty, today my postman issued the dreaded challan :yahoo: for Rs.513 for a four item (3BD+1DVD) order.

I hope it this is an exception than the standard

What was the total value in GBP (excluding VAT of course) of ur parcel?

It was GBP24.09 excluding VAT.

I received one more order of GBP24.51 excluding VAT, slapped with Rs.331 customs duty.

Looks like Bengaluru is going the Mumbai way!!!

I received my order on Friday. Life [Blu-ray][Region Free] 13.28
Dispatched via Royal Mail
I did not get any custom duty charges on this one.

So, contrary to what you had hoped, customs duty is becoming the standard rather than an one-time aberration. Hmm, may the customs officials saw packages getting sent to you too frequently and decided to do something about it!

Congratulations! I am currently watching the Life series on DVD and have completed 5 episodes. Very good one although I feel Planet Earth is better.
