Got my blu rays from Amazon.uk. No duty!! Maybe i was lucky but im sure happy!!!

Blu rays were:-

1.Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
2.Predator : Ultimate Edition
3.The Curious case of Benjamin Button

Anybody from Chennnai who ordered Blu rays from Amazon uk and received them? Have you paid the duty or was it duty free?

From my experience at Chennai small packages (up to 5 blu-rays) shipped via Royal Mail I always received as duty free. So order without any worries

Placed 2 orders for BDs on 5 & 8 Aug respectively. Estimated delivery dates were Aug 31 & Sep 1. Imagine my surprise when they both landed up today !! And without duties too !!!

BTW, I noticed that in both the cases, the amt actually charged by Amazon while placing the order was way lower than the prices shown on the site. What gives ????

Usually amazon uk shipping will reach within 10 days. Price shown in the website is inclusive of UK VAT charges. When shipping to other countries, the VAT is removed resulting in a lower price.

You can check your account for despatch details. You can cancel an order before it is despatched. The postman will deliver it to your address. You will have to pay tax if any to the postman, if the customs department decides so - better hope not.

I too placed an order for Planet Earth - Special Edition Blu-ray along with a couple of other items on 16-Aug-2011. The dispatch estimate for Planet Earth is 20 Sep 2011 - 21 Oct 2011 :sad:, whereas for the other items it is 17 Aug - 19 Aug (the delivery has been split into two). It appears that Planet Earth is not in stock. The page for the Blu-ray says "Usually dispatched within 1 to 3 months".

Hi, I ordered 4 BR movies on July 2oth and estimated delivery date was Aug 10th.. I have not received aby untill today.. I sent an email 2 days ago about my order and they said that it has been dispatched on July 21st. They wanted me to wait till Aug 27th and get back to them if I still did not receive them.

Question is, Did this happen to anyone? if Yes, what was the end result?

Amazon will send you a replacement copy if you don't get it in the stipulated time. There is incidence where some forum members ended up with two copies.:licklips:

I stay in Mumbai...an odd thing happened right now...I received two parcels together of UK Amazon -

Parcel 1 - containing 10 Blu-rays..costing GBP 48.35 had a note on it of Chennai Customs and NO DUTY CHARGED


Parcel 2 - containing 4 Blu-rays (delivered in dot 6 days..am amazed!) cost GBP 26.85 but Rs. 660 customs duty charged by Mumbai Customs...

I MEAN WTF!!!!
