I bought a few used CD's from an Amazon reseller called Zoverstocks (UK) a few months ago. I am not sure, but I think there was a VAT reduction. But there is no free shipping for the same. You have to play packaging and handling charges. I received these CD's through a courier rather than the ordinary post.

Incidentally Amazon will probably start operating in India by next year, and all such discussions may then become academic

A quick inquiry before I place an order for DVD's.

I am planning to order a few DVD's from Amazon UK. All the DVD's are PAL, Region 2. I have a Yamaha DVD player which I think plays DVD's from all regions. I presume the DVD player would have no problem playing DVD's meant for the European market?

... And that film has been on my watch list for sometime. Need to find a Sunday with no external interference and watch that film all at one go, relaxed and lonely

If your dvd player is region free then it will play the region 2 disk you quoted. Region 2 is for Europe, that is why the message there.

I have earlier bought movies from many countries and played them on my DVDP without a hitch. So I guess there will be no problem.

I have watched Bela Tarr's Damnation and The Man From London. The former is a masterpeice and the latter is also very good. I will be placing an order for Werckmeister Harmonies and Satantango. There is no movie in the entire universe that I want to see more badly than these two

I was expecting the total order will be 30.90, but amazon.uk charged me only 25.75 ( I did not use any promotional code). :clapping:

Shipping date 30/Aug/2011. (monday 29th is holiday in UK).

Considering a total of 8 BDs (3 in Matrix and 5 in Planet Earth) for around Rs 2000 (averaging Rs 250 per BluRay Disc), I guess it's a good deal.

Wanted to include the T2 (skynet edition) blu-ray but it's not region free; so had to drop the plan.

Rajan, congratulations on your purchase! The total order amount is less because the VAT component in the price is removed, as the order is for export outside the UK. On average, my Amazon.co.uk orders have been delivered within a week of shipping, so hope you get yours soon too.

Man, you guys are lucky to not being slapped any custom duty. I got my parcel today with a Customs duty of 683Rs and it took around 2 weeks+.. Sob sob. But hey, even with the duty it's way cheaper than what would've been in India.

It appears that their supplier has informed them that the item is no longer available and they asked me to try other sellers. I don't know if that means the Blu-ray is no longer available forever or just the near future?!
