amazon.co.uk - free shipping to india

Been a visitor to this forum for many years now but decided to join it only today on a whim. This is my first post to any thread. Have been ordering many DVDs and Blu-rays from amazon over the past few years including the free shipping offer and even from the marketplace. What i discovered accidently yesterday was that amazon.co.uk also has started shipping electronic items (atleast some) to India just like amazon.com. Just ordered Panasonic BDT110 as I wanted a simple Region B blu-ray player to watch Region B blu-rays. Delivered expected tomorrow, i.e. just 2 days.

No way!!!
But even with shipping + customs it was coming to just around 10k. I have no need for a built-in wifi or the dual HDMI port. So Pana BDT110 was just fine to add to my earlier Pana BD65 as I have very few Region A Blu-ray discs though I would have loved an analog 5.1 out.

The link for the item is here
Panasonic DMP-BDT110EB 3D Blu-ray Disc Player with: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

Excluding VAT it comes to around 82 pounds which matches the price on amazon.com of $126.
Been a happy customer of amazon uk for the last 3 years.

Yes. Got it through UPS in less than 3 days..actually reached Mumbai in just over a day after ordering. For all shipping from amazon, they charge import fees before dispatch. Total cost came to around pounds 130..roughly around Rs 10K...slightly more than what the Region A player from amazon.com might cost, but this one plays both NTSC (All region) and PAL DVDs. My earlier BD65 was Region A, but most of the DVDs/Blu-ray in my collection are from amazon.co.uk or Indian (All region) NTSC. And, as I said earlier I just needed the player for my Blu-ray/DVD collection. Quality on my Panny 42V20 is excellent. No NTFS support for the USB connection.

No point using a 42" TV to watch youtube.

Hope it helps

Thanks for the information. Also, player is compatible with Indian Voltage ..right and does not require step up/down transformer??

I suppose since the FDI notification was received, they are more confident of opening up in India, wherein they would stop the option of getting from UK.

I am trying to fool the system of customs payment. My hypothesis, that the postal dept. charges customs duty on the size of the parcel. So for example, if you order a single CD or BD with over 25 GBP, there is no way they will charge it. But if you get the HP 8 BD set, then you will def. be charged.

I have also noticed, that Amazon is not always able to post articles together, either due to sourcing from different parts or availability, so the parcels individually appear smaller.

I am trying to use the same to beat it. Ordered the Band of Brothers and HP 7 part2 (which is a pre-order), so that they have to be shipped separately and still giving me free shipping.

Will let you guys know if successful :)

Placed order for following on 22 November and received today.
1. X Men First class BD (Received Region B
2. Dreaming Out Loud-One Republic CD
3. Birdy CD
4. Chariot- Gavin DeGraw CD

Total GBP 25.80

Was marked as gift and shipped to a friend. Got charged Rs.777 (CD737 + Postal Charges Rs.40)

Thought they didn't charge duty for CD's

My CC got charged for the Harry Porter pre-order yesterday night from amazon. So hopefully it should get dispatched in a day or 2 :).

Thanks.

It all depends on luck guys. Doesn't matter how big for small your delivery package size is. Once I got charged for just 2 items (small packet) and just after a week I got delivery of big sized package (Friends Complete collection + Spider-man collection + 2 more BD's) and was let off without any duty. So it's just luck I guess.
