LG 50PK550R Owner's Discussion Thread

Just curious-
If we can get a fullhd projector :D fullhd screen :D fullhd remote :D fullhd lamp :D all fullhd and much much bigger than the 60inch tv in 1.5 Lac budget. Why do people buy 60 inch plasma & companies manufacture 60 inch TVs. Is that due to amateur customers like me? :(

Well I was just trying my best so you get the best for your buck... 1.5 lakh is good money so you shld get the best of it... In the same amount you can get a good plasma and build a very decent HT setup.......

just my 2 paisa

3D - hmmm howmany movies or programs come in a year
Cinema Smooth - That sounds :licklips: btw depends on kind of movie u watch
Internet TV - So people can hack into it and brake the panel or display their freaky logo
All Share - Can you explain what is this ?
USB HD Recording - The same programs in india are being showed for a month continuously why do you care USB HD recording all DVR STBs can do it....

Let me tell you something my friend was a dealfreak he bought 2 hdmi cables in USA for 0.99c and they gave him another free some crazy offer .... Came back to india and spent some 1 lakh to connect those 3 cables together.. LCD BDP and a Mediaplayer.... He is still paying the credit card bills

Samsung All Share-
Samsung HDTV takes the struggle out of sharing your talent with the world, or at least with your family. Transfer your videos, music and photos from your PC or mobile device. Wirelessly and effortlessly. It even connects with multiple PCs. Who said you need connections to get on TV?

:indifferent14: I know Media Player can do this but a good media player will cost Rs.8000 to Rs.10000. Right?

For people interested to buy the 50PK550 within Mid Sept or .. you're out of luck. Look at a LED LCD or some other plasma. For current owners you were the last of the lucky ones.

 Why Why Why???????? Is this model discontinued?

because you cannot always watch in a dark room, and PJ lamps are expensive to replace, so most people wil reserve projectors for critical viewing and not for daily use

Now this could change in future with high bright led projectors and black p.j screens become affordable

1.5 lac is a very tempting price for 63" tv, it is not much higher than US price

Are you sure it is not a display piece?

I think it has a 2d to 3d conversion feature as well, how effective i am not sure.

USB HDD recording is cool

cinema smooth is not that good, it pushes 24p material to 96hz and results in slightly elevated black levels

You could also go for a cheaper 50" and buy a projector for critical viewing with little bit more than 1.5 lakhs

I asked NXT manager- is this display pc? He told that I will receive box pack pc. This pc was ordered by customer in Bombay but not sold. They are selling it on lower price for stock clearance & asked me to decide before tomorrow afternoon.

If someone has 1.5 Lac budget maxx then,
according to you- should he buy 63 inch model with above features or buy 50 inch & save money for future?
I have not seperate room in my house where I can enjoy projector.
I have 62 x 45 inch means 1574mm x 1143mm space in my hall for Plasma TV / Projection Screen.

In Bedroom- space for 42 inch plasma maxxx.

Please check with local samsung office/ brandshop if you can audition c7000 set somewhere.

Also please do the audition of lg pk550 as well, then you can decide

It is absolutely not possible to make any decision without that

I don't mean to discourage, Just for info... samsung c7000 is not up to mark even for 2D and acc. to reviews 3D is pathetic and kind of failure..they have released 8000 which got good feedback even compared to Panny VT25 which itself is an excellent plasma.
If you have that kind of money and need bigger size of plasma go for 60PK950 still you can save 20K odd.

Just spoke with LG sales manager today he said the stocks will dispatch on 1st week of Sept to all stores...........

Hmmm and what was the name of the Manager? If sticks are dispatched on 1st week of Sept, the earliest end users will receive will be mid sept or 3rd week. Hopefully I'll get my replacement before that. fingers crossed

Toruble is with Plasma's you just cannot make out a damn thing if you're viewing them in a showroom with 10 other displays besides it. and if it's placed next to a LED TV, you'll probably think Plasmas are so crappy, they lack brightness. However bring one home, and draw the curtains, then you can only appreciate the display and it'll knock off the socks off lcd's.One of the reasons I just cannot settle for a LCD replacement, even though I know I'll get one next day, unlike the PK

 From where did you got this information? I am worried man now. After 15 days and spending almost 20 hours I decided to buy 50pk550. Now even if it gets available what about after sales service, spare cost etc. :o

I agree. And there is not single shop in Pune where 50pk550 or 50c550 available on display. No chance of PS63C7000YR on display. I have to trust HiFivians & I trust. :clapping: Every shop trying to promote LED & telling us Plasma is outdated technology. NXT manager told that only internet users in india buy plasma.

Even if there is one on display it must be a returned one.I think we better wait for some more time.... Not rush ....

Thats completely true. In my experience best way to demo a plasma is in night time, we can ask to switch off few lights in TV area to make the environment more friendly to plasma. This way I am sure Plasma excels and LCD/LEDs looks too bright to watch more than few mins.since they normally put them in dynamic mode.

+1 to that, dont rush

You must find a way to do proper audition, there is a limit to which the forums and reviews can help. I now dont trust reviews also For ex:there was ashootout between panny vt25 and sammy c8000 in a website and according to them sammy beat panny 9 to 1, I think that is just plain B.S

If not possible at your city how about mumbai, take some s.d/hd material in a memory card and should try on these sets(lg550,pana v20 and c7k since you can get for1.5lakhs)

Yes plasma kind of washout under bright conditions and it has less brightness compared to LED, but they are plenty bright for home conditions.
You can ask them to keep the lighting off so that u can check properly. It is your money and you have the right to ask

The washout problem at bright condition depend on the A.R filter. I think L.g has none and panasonic and samsung has some kind of filters .so these will be better in that aspect.. but if you can control your home lighting it is not an issue.L.G makes up for this by providing very good 24p playback and verygood motion handling

Because all of you. I dropped plan of PS63C7000YR.
Back to- 50pk550 + Media Player.
Siddh is going to help me to get better deal in Pune.
n_thacker is also trying to get it at 55k in corporate booking.
Apart from corporate deal what will be the right price for 50pk550 in normal deal?

Can you change your location from India to your city?:p

<City>, India - better still.

Okay...i found out which city i live in....hehe:ohyeah:kidding....and yes there are no PK550 on display in Pune....also the dealer said the price has been hiked by 2-3k....dont know how true it is......

do clourwash and whitewash.....and for how much time????

I have to keep watch on these issues

Any comment on this?

forums has this kind of effect on people at first:rolleyes:, fortunately there is no active thread here discussing problems of lcd's:D(viewing angle, greyish blacks, soap opera effect, motion blur, input lag, non uniform backlighting, flashlighting, blooming) here otherwise he will drop plan to buy lcd tv as well.
to each his own,
