This weekend I tried to calibrate my TV with THX optimizer. Last attempt was half done as I could not see some of the high black patterns. I got it finally and had to set the Black level to High and Gamma to Medium.
The calibrated setup required me to crank the contrast all the way to 98. Brightness at about 48.
One thing I observed is not all advanced settings are available for all inputs.
Anyways, Calibrating now does not make sense as it is ought to break when new firmware is applied.

Did any of you get the new firmware? I have not requested it so far.
I am waiting for arrival of my friends PK550 to see the improvements myself. Its almost a month now since he booked it. Still waiting.

Thanks for the update. Hope you have noted down the settings

Yes, they dialled sub-brightness to down to 115 from 128 and sub-contrast is up from 128 to 165. This means contrast need not be cranked up to 98. On TataSky HD my contrast is 66-68 and on DVD/DBP it is 79-84.

With these changes along with some screwing/unscrewing they did internally, the picture has improved - less greens and better blacks. Maybe you can try calibrating after these physical changes.

I will call one of the engineer once again to do further adjustments.

Is it instant refund or there is a catch to it ? If instant take it and see for other models which meet your needs..

Open the set and tweak some existing hardware - no removal or replacement of hardware.

Ok, is fair deal a grey market provider? Spoke with LG authorized dealer and he said such deals should be avoided. Fairdeal will offer dealer level warranty by sending their owm service guys if there are any problems. No LG authorized technicians will visit. Not sure how true that would be but best to check with LG. Plasmas have the tendency to throw up problems and a proper warranty will help.

These are the best quotes I got from authorized dealer:
42PJ350 - 36.5K
42PJ560 - 38.5K
50PJ560 - 53.5K
50PK550 - 59.5K

May settle for Rs. 500 less for each model. Let me know if anyone interested.

n_thacker is trying to crack a corporate deal in 55k for 50pk550. If it does not happens, I will be interested. But Bombay dealer should arrange delivery in Satara at 59k. Satara dealer has quoted 62k & 1 dealer from Pune quoted 61k.
And yes... what is the availability status?

I got my TV updated to the firmware version 3.28. I found that in cinema more there is reduced green pixels but there is no difference in other modes.

I think LGE is sending all it's entire plasma lineup to the drawing board. All I can say is "Patience!" For Owners awaiting replacements for the PK, like me the wait just might worth it <fingers crossed>

Y'know Mehuldil, waiting indefinitely for a PJ560 really doesn't make sense honestly. The panel doesn't even support 1365 x 768p, imp for BD and nextgen consoles (supported by PJ650). Waiting for a PK is a little more worthwhile (2010 model, FullHD etc) . I recommend u take your refund and go in for a Panasonic NeoPDP model.

hmm.. REfund would also take around 10 days.. I have asked my local dealer to check if its available in warehouse.

I would have gone for PK but room space can not really accomodate that.

Let see whats in store.

Hi guys...i finally did some content watching on my set.....
what i found confusing is that the SD content looks okay okay(still in run in period)....
But when i watch any HD content i could see spots(like measles) on the characters faces or for that matter on any light coloured surface......
The HD content was the BR given free with the sony BD player and BD rips of 720p quality.....

Is something wrong with my set:sad:.....Its the august batch...date printed is 01-08-2010....
