onkyo hts 3300

Thanks ontherocks.. for pointing me manual link.. It has all needful info regarding speaker setup and mounting.. I hope the shop guys when they deliver they may do a professional installation considering all these technical factors..

I believe you are getting it from Modern World, Bangalore. They do normal setup for free. However, if you want the professional installation (based on your room acoustics), then they charge you a fee. I am not sure about the amount. But, I would suggest you to use this forum or tons of information available in internet to do the setup on your own. It is fun! I did my whole setup and learned many things on the way.

I think the supplied wire would be 22 gauge. 16 gauge (Rs.30-40/mtr) or 18 gauge (20-25/mtr) should be worth investing

Yesterday, I spoke to the Modern World technicians. They are not sure about the gauge supplied with however I asked them to show 16 gauge. It was pretty thicker than the supplied wires. I asked them how much the sound quality improvement one could notice after going for 16 gauge, he said 10%. Other experts who invested in this can help us here.

MW Bangalore quoted Rs.60/Mtr for 16 gauge.

Hey Guys,

I got my ONKYO-HTS3300 delivered today... Waited for 18 Loooong days :) Am very much excited :yahoo::yahoo: and eager to listen to it..Guys are cmng tom for installation.. Let them do their installation.. and I'll continue with my tweaking later on..

Thanks Senthil for the needful info..
shop guy said he'll get a good gauge wire which costs 70rs/metre.. and connecting this higher gauge to center and front speakers is enough.. No need for rear surround speakers..

Anyway I'll get higher gauge and connect it later and see if there's a genuine improvement..

b.t.w, I'll listen to my ONKYO-HTS3300 and update you'll about my experience..

Cheers,:clapping:

Congratulations! :clapping:

Please let me know if you notice any difference between the supplied wires and 16 gauge. I do not expect the difference as the supplied speakers can get the best analog signals even with supplied 22 gauge. I believe 16 gauge would only help if we have medium to high end speakers.

Will wait for your experience.

Hi All,

I just bought a onkyo hts 3300 from Audio Gallery (Coimbatore) Thanks to HiVision Forum for suggesting the name...I got it for 23000 (He shipped it free for me and gave a free optical cable)...
Extremly nice experience with the store...Dinesh(9655122996) from audio gallery is really helpful with any query
I also got quotes for couple of stand along AVR for my friend ...Thought I will post this if its useful to anyone planning to buy stand alone AVR
Onkyo TX-SR 207 (5.1 Channel) 21000/-
ONkyo TX -SR508 (7.1 Channel) 25000/_

Hi Manju,
I spoke to Mr Dinesh 2 days before and he is offering the system for 23K, on asking him that how he would deliver the set, he replied that he would send it through KPN travels which would cost 200-300Rs/-. How did u got your system delivered? And did you do the installation by yourself or did Audio Gallery sent any person?

hi guys i am new to the forum.i am looking to buy my first complete home theatre system.i am currently using a basic 5.1 edifier da-5000 home theatre which is attached to my pc.it is a basic system with no reciever and now i want to buy a real good system with a separate av reciever and having all the latest functions to enjoy my music, xbox and movies.
So after reading a lot of good things about the new onkyo hts 3300 i decided to visit a shop which deals with home theatres.the guy couldnt give me the demo of this system but said it is best bang for the buck.but he mentioned me another onkyo model the hts 5300.i read about the 5300 also in this forum but i could not conclude as which one to buy.this is where my confusion starts.

I am getting the 3300 for rs25000 and for the 5300 he quoted me rs53000.i am willing to spend rs53000 also if there is significant difference between the two.but then i think that if i spend rs53000 on the onkyo i may be missing on some other good brands which may have better system at this price point.so look iam soo confused:lol:

now i want you guys to please advise me which system to buy. i am inclined towards the 3300 for its great value for money but i fear if i am missing some great deal by not spending rs25-30000 more.my budget is upto rs60000.but it is kinda flexible .i can spend a little more too if there is something very great but if i am geeting sufficient features for lower price like in the 33oo then i will not overspend.kindly tell me if the 3300 will be sufficient for my bedroom which is 18*14.

oh i have written soo much.sorry guys!!
but please take a while to reply me.i basically need a 5.1 system with great sound having the latest features.i basically listen to punjabi songs and the popular english ones like from akon etc and i watch a lot of dvd rips of english movies and the other thing is my xbox.
the things for which i may buy the 5300 overthe 3300 is
1.passive sub.i love the bass and want t to be nice and punchy.i doubt if it will satisfy me.what u say?
2.dolby pro logic 2 is missing.i dont know what sort of difference will it make?
3.extra 2 speakers but it doesnt bother me much
4.the 5300 also have a little bit more power than 3300
please also suggest me some other good system upto rs 60000.
thanksss!!!!

He Didnt charge for the shipping though (He did send through one of these kind of courier services, not KPN though, some small agency in Richmond Road)...But it was pretty quick (They will send through overnight buses) and I just went there and collected...Coming to Installation, I've not done that yet (Was busy with some personal commitments)...I would have do it myself, but its pretty straight forward (With color coded wires and all)

Hope this helps

Thanks
But if i connect WDTV live with HDMI to the receiver will it be able to produce 5.1 surround sound?

Thanks

yes... that should work.. single cable for audio-video.. onk3300 can decode audio on HDMI.. Select HDMI audio on your WD TV audio settings..

Hi Guys
One more query.
What setting should i select for individual speakers?
I mean how many decibels for each speaker.
I know it will depend on that room size but any pointers will help.

Thanks

Onkyto Hts 3300 is a excellent system and great value for money.. it is future proof as well.

All the owners of 3300 , please confirm if Audio from Tata Sky HD comes to TV ,when Onkyo HTS 330 is not in action ?
This is HDMI Audio passthrough , this feature is required when some time you dont want to 5.1 Audio setup to be ON, for example watching news on Tata SKY HD which is attached to A/V Recv.

today i called some showrooms in Delhi and Guragoan to know the price and waiting period, everybody quoated price of 25K some with installaion others without it and there are no freebies with it. for waiting period expect Onlyo Wonderland Guregaon everybody was giving a waiting period of 7 to 10 days.

Please let me know if anyone got a better quoate than me in Delhi and Gurgaon.:)

Is your connection like this?

Tata Sky HD --HDMI--> HT-S3300 --HDMI--> TV?

Don't know what do you mean by "not in action". If HT-S3300 is switched off you will neither get audio nor video from Tata Sky box.

Hi Guys
Any suggestions for mounting the rear and front speakers of this HTIB
Should we use wall mounts?

How do we mount the speakers?
Is one screw enough for holding the speaker

Thanks

Hi guys,

Just unpacked my brand new Onkyo hts 300 .

I am not getting 5.1 sound.

I have connected my wd live media player via optical out to the receiver.
I have also made the adjustment in settings for the media player to pump out digital signals and not analog stereo audio.

If i select speaker a i get only front channel stereo

if i select only speaker a i get only rear channel stereo.

if i select only speaker a+ b setting i get same front channel stereo.

i have selected the tv all channel listening mode.

please help or connecting via hdmi is better advised?
