Panasonic VT20 Owners Thread

Hi...

Any user of vt20 is able to connect VIERA CONNECT - MARKET PLACE post upgrade from viera tools....m having vt20 65" plasma and after upgrade to viera connect everytime i get server down error while connecting to market place....

Cheers....

I have no problem in connecting to viera connect, infact saw some videos today on BIG FLIX...

So the one you negotiated for 68k was display..., would 60-65k price convince you to buy the Display unit? So for 74k you can get a brand new sealed unit , am I correct? :indifferent14:

I am confused here completely. Throw some light here please :).
Yes, ironically they are the same stock I had negotiated for 70.5k. The Croma Area Manager went for a vacation and they floated them to rest of their outlets for display units! Now they have agreed for 68k for display units and that is the reason I am not enthusiastically recommending it to the rest of us. However, if someone would like, he/she can contact me so I could arrange the same. I personally wouldn't want to go with those display units for more than 60k now.

In the mean time I am starting a group buy for 51D550 as I am still convinced that is the best bet for 58k with 2x glasses. I am also talking for 64D8000 to pull the prices down to less than 1.7L with sound bar and 2x glasses.

i think wait for a few months, you will get vt20 display units for 40k after 2012 panasonic models are released :) .That will be a good price for a display unit :) Or else go for st30 or 51d550
I have found another Panasonic contact today who could offer us good price for ST30 as the branded shop hasn't been much helpful.

I think he is talking of Viera Connect Market. Did you try that application?

Big Flix is not present by default in VT20's viera connect. I had first downloaded it from viera market only. Hope that explains your query...

Can anyone plz tell how to setup VT20 to use DLNA for streaming photos and videos ??

I would like to hear more about calibrating the VT20D from you guys. I used D-nice's slides to burn-in the TV, but all the settings by D-nice are for N.American versions - I couldn't find the calibrated offsets for the Indian/Asian versions. Has anyone of you chanced upon good/appropriate settings?

Right off the hook, most of the brightness settings required for calibration in D-nice's guide are above 50 and my VT20D maxes out brightness at 50.

I've just completed the burn-in process and would love to hear from folks who've done a great job of calibrating their sets.

Thanks

may be not exactly a 'calibrated' settings-profile, but from the annals of this thread, here's one for you :

Mode Professional 1
contrast 75
brightness +8
Colour 75
Sharpness 60
Tint -15 (Yes!!)
Eco-off
PNR - off

IMO, this works too good for gaming ! even if you lower the brightness to +5, colour and sharpness to ~50-60, you will see really eye-candy results. just try out. now let seasoned players advise. even am waiting :licklips:

Is it right to have contrast of 75 ,will it have any effect on life of tv?

While changing the settings I didn't see tint. Do I need to plug in a source for tint to show up or are we using different firmware? I am using the latest firmware from the info on the page post on this thread.

PS: Haven't plugged it to a source yet. Did the 100 hour slide burn in and will now connect it to sources in a day or two.

so you arent through with 200 hrs ? ok then, dont use those settings for now. for the time being, you may use the settings given on the 1st page (or later) in this thread for viewing normal TV content. you may use them for another 100-150 hrs, and then later on play with the settings i mentioned above.

i have the older firmware, but i think you can see the 'tint' option after enabling 'advanced settings'. do check. i use tint as it is (not at -15; no specific reason), but other settings are more or less the same as given above.

Sorry for the late reply...

I have bsnl broadband with dynamic IP.

I didn't change any settings whatsoever on my TV, just plugged in the ethernet cable and internet was connected...:)

Tint option is shown with HDMI input only.

the noob strikes :) :

could someone please tell whether is there any cheaper alternative to VT20's goggles :o ? i remember reading somewhere that samsung's active shutter ones could be used, but am not sure. after playing a game on the TV in 3D, i was quite impressed. but the frame-design (the glass barely sits on my nose) + the fiery cost, makes me want to try for some other glasses first, esp. after prankey's proposed deal for glasses went dry before it could see the light of the day :(

Mate, do also let me know of the outcome. Had asked a friend to check in UK but it seems they are also costing aroung 90-95 pounds there excluding tax so dosent make sense.

I also googled if anyone wanted to let go of the old glasses (battery operated)as the new rechargeable one are out but couldnt find any lead...

Still trying through a new source. Using other glasses may result in poorer color accuracy.

Paying about Rs.900 extra for with bill for the original rechargeable glasses with warranty should be a better option.

Xpand X103 Universal Active Shutter 3D Glasses - i bought 2 pairs of these glasses at $64/- per pair on amazon usa. They are more comfortable than the original panny glasses for wearing over prescription glasses. i found no difference in pq between the pannys and these. they also come with 2 extra batteries and they are universal, can be used with all active 3d TVs.

when i bought them the cost was rs. 3370/- per pair. they were carried in personal baggage when my sister came 2 days ago, along with the panny 3d bluray player and quite a number of blurays including starwars, lord of the rings etc. so i didnt incur any extra cost for getting them here.

qualitywise u dont have to worry at all. pricewise u would get 3 for the price of 1 of pannys.
