Got a Minidsp 2x4HD last November. Been playing around with it since then, time permitted. It's a remarkable piece of electronics. An eye-opener to the amount of control it gives you over your sound. You can literally tweak the shit out of your setup.

I'm using it the correct way. i.e. cavity encompasses HiFi equip feet.

It can be used either way

In fact the cavity side touching the equipment is the way to do it for speakers

It should form a vaccunm over time and will probably get latched on

Correction yes, but signature I am not so sure. As of now, I feel its a really advanced EQ. But then, I am still learning to use it to its potential.

Ahh, lovely. Do post a short comparison between this and AP tube Pre. Yeh, they are from different leagues, but still, purely Sound Signature wise?
