HT room preparations !!! Ordered the following items from Monoprice. Opted for shipping to India. Products price :79.20 $ and Shipping to Guwahati ASSAM 115.84 $ . Products have been shipped. by UPS- Worldwide Saver . nd I have got the Tracking number... !! Initially it mentioned that ""The commercial invoice is missing and is required for export."":rolleyes: but it has been resolved and showed the following resolution

Got a pair of Cambridge Audio S30 speakers and DAC cables to connect to the Onkyo 3400. Have replaced the front speakers with them temporarily till I find suitable stands, and will then connect them to the B terminals for dedicated stereo.

Very happy with the upgraded sound quality - crisp, nicely balanced and with enough bass for a 17x 13 room that I don't feel the need for a sub woofer.

Would recommend them to anyone looking for small speakers on a small budget. (Availability seems to be a problem with this model and had to wait for months to get a pair in Mumbai.)
 
Congrats Cherian,S30 are certainly capable speakers.Goes deeper than Tannoy F1.It will improve after some days.

Ventured into the realm of headphones for the first time with a new pair of over-the-ears viz Audio Tecnica T500.
Been listening for last 3-4 days with my HTC phone. These sound a lot better than the OEM in-ears that came with Samsung Galaxy Pop.
 
Im planning to buy a YAMAHA RX-V673 (7.2) AV receiver with BOSE Acoustimass 15 (5.1), got amazing reveiws and response on YAMAHA though with BOSE, I got mixed response... not that I doubt BOSE (awsome sound and quality).. it would be intresting to see your feedback.. is there a better combination or is this the best ?
 
@Cherian, how much the pair of Cambridge Audio S30 speakers cost you? Where did you bought it? Please share the info....

You need to do a sanctity cum reality check about Bose. Bose is ok for movies but awful for music and is heavily overpriced.

Bought few days back Klipsch G17 Airplay speakers.
Flipkart delivery was excellent .i have paired it with my iPad and even Dhngana music sounds excellent. The set up was very fast on the iPad .
ITunes as well sounds too good
 
Recieved the monoprice shipment today.. I was charged Rs 1828 as duty. The in-ceiling speakers are good.. comparable to cambridge audio SS10 and build quality is also great.. and they look little big compared to other surround speakers.. Recieved RCA Cables, HDMI cable, Toslink etc. LCD mount,,,build quality very good.

Directly by Monoprice.. The shipper was UPS till mumbai which is incredibly fast.. but after reaching Mumbai it was sent via DelEx logistics to my city..But due to Regional festival season here at Assam the shipment was delayed by 4-5 days. It was shipped on 4th Jan from USA and it arrived Mum on 9th...
 
Surprisingly I was not able to registeran Indian shipping address and credit card details and therefore had to rely on an intermediary....of you don't mind could you post a breakup of the cost to permit comparison with services like ishop for the benefit of all of us on the forum who would love to prefer from Monoprice. The three suggested heads of the breakup can be the original cost of the item, shipping cost and finally customs to arrive at the final landed cost. Would be very grateful

MONOPRICE gave the actual shipping weight as 14 lbs which is ~7kg.

Clearing Charged at Mumbai AIrport: 86.55
Import duty -Mumbai airport..Rs 1731.00
Service Tax: Rs. 10.70
---------------------------TOTAL: 1828.25

Borderlinx will also give a similar pricing, but I did not want to take risk of the volumetric calculations at borderlinx for shipping charges so got it through Monoprice itself. What I mean is that I tried the cost calculator at borderlinx which gives u an approximate pricing of all the heads, cost,duty,shipping but it requires dimensions of shipping box to calculate the exact price, which is unavailable as we dont know how big the box is in which monoprice ships the items or say I ordered a 6.5 inch kevlar in-ceiling speaker, but I did not know how big the packagin will be. Will it be between thermocol pieces or will it be mounted on cardboard boxes.
This was the reason I did not prefer the borderlinx route.

And one of our fellow HFV member who is also from Guwahati akd (Arnab sir) had ordered a HDMI Cable (35feet if I remember) ,, and he said that he recieved the package without any hassles.

NOTE: Monoprice does not accept Indian Credit Cards. Some days back one of my transaction was cancelled.
We can pay by Indian Credit card but, got to follow the PayPal route, Register yourself at paypal, link your credit card and then you are good to go .
