Sony launches a new Blu-ray player at Rs. 9,999/-

is there any way to play those >4gb files? is there a mkv file splitter program that works?

One more question :DRite now im using a 2 g b pen drive to watch the HD movies & the music videos and its getting frustrated everytime i have to delete and add new files to the pen drive because of its size.Wondering if i can use a 40 gb or the 60 gb external hard drive to it ???? so that i can load all the BDrips and live happy ever after .

When you add lots of HD Files you need efficient file managment which can be done by WDTV.....Go for it.......or else go for a Computer and use the VGA or HDMI Output of your computer to connect it to your TV or Proj.
2GB PenDrive is too small for holding a true 1080 Rip.......

depends which media player you use.. :)

I don't think Sony BD-S370 supports NTFS formatted HDDs on USB..
you need Xtreamer/WDTV/POHD for this..

I tried plugging in 1tb external hard disk, it didnot recognize but no problems with a 8gb iball memory stick.
my tv accepts the harddisk:ohyeah:so no problem

anybody having trouble with dts-hd master audio, my avr wont display that when bdp-s370 plays bd with dts hd master audio, only shows pcm

You can connect external USB HDD.. i have connected a Transcend 250 Gb HDD. however it needs to be FAT32 format. Thats not a big issue as such. I have already gotten 200 Gb of HD movies (1080p and 720p MKVs etc), Music and jpeg stuff on it.. the BD 370 is pretty easy to use to navigate to a folder on the HDD, select and play. Also in FAT32 there's a file size limit. so you can use mkvtoolnix to split your mkv, avi, mp4 etc. into <2Gb files and keep them in a folder. when you play the first file, the 370 will load the first start playing and seamlessly load the next in the folder and so on...

Re: Sony BD-S370

you can split your mkv which are >4Gb and keep them in a folder. On your 370 navigate to the folder and play the first mkv .. it will pick and play all others in a sequence.
you can use mkvtoolnix utility to split the original mkv file.

I think this has been discussed in earlier posts/threads. The answer remains the same, NO, as of now. Hacks are available for only 370, I guess.

It is difficult to get hack or mod for Sony BDPs.

Cheers!

Posted on PK550R owner's thread too, whichever you read first :)

See if this helps:

Somewhere else:
"There was an initial panic when it didn't pass the HD audio to my amp for decoding, but it the stupidly named "BD Interactive Audio" setting set to OFF I forgot to set, and before you know it, glorious DTS-MA and DD True HD came shining through. "

I faced this problem and I fixed it months ago. :)

"I figured the PCM issue out. Instead of an option for Direct you just turn the "Mix" option to off and it sends the audio out to the receiver to decode. It's under Audio Settings-BD Audio MIX Setting. Options are On/Off. Set to off."

thanks to shaiju it is resolved now, still no word from sony, one girl from sony called me to discuss the complaint i registered thru email told me that hdmi is only for video:lol:

bdp was an impulse buy, there was nothing else avl in town and i wanted to test the new 50 incher, you may want to try getting a region A player imported because this is only C region and probably wont be able to add a mod kit.I think indian blurays are multiregion
otherwise no issues.plays all region dvd's ,can be connected to youtube etc

dts hd ma setting was the only problem faced but now resolved.

[email protected] is quite good,v, lots of features, bass is quite good, powerful enough for my 15x10 room cannot go beyond 40 without rattling the windows
What i liked is the clarity and surround effects as i use only for movies

you might want to change the front l-r speakers later

Cool.thank u
My HTS 3300 will arrive on Tuesday :yahoo:.
Been waitin for almost 2 weeks for this. Also downloaded lots of HD movies.:licklips:

Got it at last. So the media player has taken the beating.

I tried a bluray and Raavana DVD. Both looked fine on the demo Samsung 50C450.

Now another task - reading through all pages of information on this thread.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
