Ishqiya- Movie review

1 Line Review-

The story and pace of narration kills the movie. Avoid this flick.


Detailed Review-

Though the trailers looked impressive I didnt have plans to watch Ishqiya before as I suspected the story wont be too good. But then I was intrigued by statements from the director, cast etc that Vidya Balan's character is "Raw". She portrays the completely different side of Indian women!


So I decided to give it a chance. The movie surely belongs to a different genre and is an offbeat movie with crude dialogues and powerful performances from the cast. But even that doesnt help as the story is slowly paced and never amuses or intrigues you.

Set in Western Uttar Pradesh, the movie is a tale of romance between individuals caught in a web of crime, suspense, passion and deceit. Two thieves, Khalujan (Naseeruddin Shah) and Babban (Arshad Warsi), are on the run from their boss, Mushtaq (Salman Shahid).They seek refuge with an old friend but instead meet his widow, Krishna (Vidya Balan). As they plan their escape, their time spent together draws the duo to her, Khalujan with his vision of old-fashioned love and Babban with his lascivious heart.



The movie never really picks up pace. The story is narrated more like an essay and even the twists are told in such a plain manner that they doesnt surprise you or build your interest in the movie. The story could have been very good had it been executed properly. If you think about the story and the twists later you would feel that they could have been very interesting but are integrated so ordinarily in the movie that it fails to interest you.

The dialogues, scenes from interior parts of India and offbeat nature of the movie would attract many and infact may hide the principal flaws! I feel that a very poorly executed story is presented wrapped in good dialogues, music and raw characters with power packed performances.

To do this nerve shattering job not only u need to be the best u also have to thrive in a zone where the margin of error is absolutely ZERO, think as a bomb maker,and somehow survive with your body and soul intact

Very realistically shot. Action packed. absolutely intense thriller, with some hilarious dialogues (especially in the scene where all the 3 guys are drunk and having a good time)

SQ /PQ of the reg1 dvd is awesome

PS --Do not miss this one its an absolute cracker of a movie, wud rate it 9/10

Across the Hall (2009)

very stylish, Hitchcook style thriller, Terry follows his fiancee ,june, to a old hotel where shes meeting another man. Drunk and suscpectful terry calls his best friend Julian and reveals that hes holed up across the hall from the lovers with a stolen gun and has murder on his mind. A chilling game follows ,forcing Julian to risk his own life to keep his friend from doing the unthinkable

Very well told story , keeps u on the edge with a lot of twists

this also cud be one of the last movies of Brittany murphy

SQ/PQ of the reg 1 dvd is again top notch

A fairly descent Thriller movie. Good performance by Kate Beckinsale. A one time watchable movie.

Very realistically shot. Action packed. absolutely intense thriller, with some hilarious dialogues (especially in the scene where all the 3 guys are drunk and having a good time)

Hurtlocker indeed was an interesting watch. Even though there were no dialogues, I especially liked the scene where James was asked to pick up cereals and he stands there lost, across the isle. Funny. Also, his monologue with his son followed by the choice to join the next cycle voluntarily.

the scene where the 3 guys are having a drink and getting on to a game of punching was quiet funny

even funnier was the scene were the 2 seargents are looking in to james belongings and come across various triggering parts of the disarmed bombs ,they also find the wedding ring of james in the box and ask james what are all these stuff , to which james replies holding on to the ring ---''these are the things which almost killed me " :lol: :lol:

the opening scene with the plane crash i thot was truly awesome, but the movie slightly looses its grip midway, but on the whole definetly worth a watch for kate beckinsale and very good visual shots of antartica

Movie:THE CONTRACT (2006)

SHORT REVIEW:
Its a little bit of good action movie, some good acting by Freeman and john cusak. Then it all fell's apart. Has somewhat terrible story line and the bad acting all around . Cusak and Freeman both seemed to work, just for the paycheck . In my opinion...stay away from it.

The Bank Job

Business is slow for Terry Leather, a London car dealer, married with children. A Trinidadian thug, a high-end bordello owner, and a pornographer also have things stored in the vault, so the break-in threatens many a powerful personage. Is there any way these amateurs can pull it off?

District 9 (2009)

This is a great entertainer , in the begining i thot i was watching some documentry kind of movie (as the whole movie is shot in a hand held camera ,giving u the feeling like shot with a handycam) but once it kicks of its a fabulous movie , and the action too is very good

In fact this is one of the best alien movie i have seen ,with a great sense of humor, definetly recommended for all , dont miss this one.
definetly going into my Blu ray collection

YES..in the beginning 20+ mins, it will give a documentary kind of impression( Before checking this review I stopped watching after 10mins of movie thinking that I downloaded some wrong version).Once the real action starts, movie is amazing and ending is very intelligent.

Just completed watching The Orphanage, excellent movie to watch

Excellent camera which was hooking me to the front of my sofa. Background score was top notch. Highly recommended to any one on Friday nite with lights off.
