I can't emphasize this enough: Don't do it. First of all, forcing 4k 24 fps is a debugging option and not a default option provided. If you play any 30 Hz, 50 or 60Hz content, it will look wrong. Also, the firestick UI will look sluggish and choppy. On top of it, you'll only get 8-bits of colour depth which will degrade the quality much more than DV will improve over HDR 10.how to force firestick resolution to 4k 24fps in order to get 4k dolby vision?
thanks for the help. i hope firestick will fix its issue with automatic resolution.I can't emphasize this enough: Don't do it. The only sources of DV content are Netflix and Disney+hotstar. For Netflix, you can use the inbuilt app, and Disney+hotstar will also come to the TV in a couple of months. TBH, Hotstar has such a shit bitrate that DV, HDR10 or SDR doesn't really matter as the image looks bad and blocky anyway.
If you still want to do it: On the firestick remote, press the rewind button (looks like <<) and the up simultaneously for about 10 seconds and the display will start cycling through resolutions. When it gets to 2160p 24 Hz (it will be 12th option I believe), press the select button. You're done now. To go back to the 4k 60Hz option, you can do it in display settings as usual. Also, remember to set the bit-depth back to 'up to 12 bits' there.
Yeah, that would be the ideal solution. I'll be trying auto resolution/auto framerate after every update and will post here when it gets fixed.thanks for the help. i hope firestick will fix its issue with automatic resolution.
Please update on the HDR and black levelsI forgot to update the thread that i finally bought the 65u79 from reliance HYD few days ago and installed it myself on a standmout as of now
ive been working on the video settings for the past 2 days and i found @lightgamer recommended settings very decent to start with.
I will update the thread in the future with my final thoughts and review .
Here are the initial impressions:
decent out of the box colors
easy to setup
inbuilt media player is sub-par
OS is very responsive and quick
motion is quite poor but turning it off helps but still could be better[biggest problem with this set]
upscaling is quite good for 720p and up, 480p and below depends on bitrate. tatasky SD channels look sub-par
would recommend external streaming devices.
HD channels look great on my tatasky HD set top boxHow does the HD/SD contents look in this TV? Planning to buy this .
for me the HDR performance of this set is just decent/ above averagePlease update on the HDR and black levels
Great . Good to know.HD channels look great on my tatasky HD set top box
