My part of memories on the early days of stereo !!

May be I am mad... I am keeping around 5 copies of this record from Mint to Avg state, as I listen them a lot.
In addition, I recorded this record on my SPOOL tape too... :)
The music in this record in medium volume produces a soothing effect too.(esp. to me)

Thanks Anil. Seems very interesting. Never seen or heard about this album before. Added to my wish list:)

Luckily I got 2 of this great (180 gram) 'thick' Odeon record in Mint condition and I gave one record to my friend and one am possessing. One more record I have found in one of my friend's collection and am asking him to give it to me if he wants to sell it. I am also trying for the Jazz record of TKR.
Cheers.
Sunder.

In my small town, the above and The Sound of Music used to be the token "inglis rikard" in a normal aam aadmi family collection.

By late 70's their places were acquired by Boney M - Night Flight to Venus and Saturday Night Fever.

Its very nice to see these EP covers. It helps recall the days when I was a kid, back in the late 1970s. When there were temple festivals in and around our area, the sound guys used to arrive with HMV calypso record players and a huge stack of these records. Dad used to take us out and together we used to watch these guys playing these records. The interesting fact is that people would gather around and make requests for certain songs to be played. Even in those days, I clearly remember that the operator would never repeat a song during the same half of the day. If someone asked for a repeat tune, he would say, "come back in the evening". This concept is still followed on TV where we request songs by dialling in. Once the song is played, it cannot be selected for replay, for that session.

I still recall vividly, the 2 most popular Malayalam records were Madanolsavam (a Kamal Hassan Starrer) and Manjil Virinja Pookal (a 45 rpm LP record). Also Hum Kisse Se Kum Nahi was very popular.

talking about The Burning Train, I read somewhere that Asha considers the song Meri Nazar Hai Tujh Pe to be one of the most difficult ones which she has performed, in her career.

Alibaba Aur 40 Chor LP. Very balanced stereo recording, very close to The Burning Train

Alibaba Aur 40 Chor LP by Sourav Das, on Flickr

I have this Tamil version LP (Alibabavum 40 Thirudargalum) which pressed in Malaysia for Malaysian market and sounding very good.

I came across few other Malaysian Pressing titles also but those are inferior sounding. Especially the center lable which are ordinary paper.
