What media center software do you use ?

Hi all,

Here is the link with the xbmc eden beta version which play hd audio smoothly it seems. I think if this works flawlessly and comes out with the final release then this media software will be hard to beat. I am going to install today and see if the hd audio works. As of now I am currently using the external player mpc-hc for hd audio bitstreaming from xbmc.

thanks.

I just downloaded from the above link and followed the instructions as specified in this link and the hd audio is working flawlessly. I enabled the DXVA2 and the video playback is also smooth. I think I may dump the mpc-hc/potplayer and go with the eden build and see if I encounter any issues with the beta version. Otherwise the all in one solution is here. I just installed this beta version in a different drive in my htpc. But I think it is picking up the metadata for the files from the old xbmc which I did not remove.
So all the fence sitters can go ahead and install even though it is a beta version but as far as the online reviews goes it looks like a stable version to me.

Thanks

Manniraj, thanks for sharing the link [WINDOWS][PATCH]Bitstream output of HD audio formats - Page 37 - XBMC Community Forum I have overwritten the privious installation with this and I too verified that HD audio works great with rips as well as BDs that I played using my htpc. Great advancement indeed. video has never been any problem for me and xbmc playback is better since it automatically switches the refresh rate of the display as compared to TMT5.

However this version lacks BD menu support which is still a negative even with its earlier beta versions.

You could have installed it in some other directory rather than overwriting the dharma edition which works without any issues. I have done the same as this is still in a beta stage so my actual dharma edition is in C drive and the beta i installed it in D but as the common xml files with regards to the meta data reside at the same place my beta automatically picked up the metadata related to the music/photos/movies after I installed it. If I encounter any problem then I can safely use the dharma edition. Also once thing which I noticed is that with my original bdrip of District 9 in DTS HDMA my receiver was changing from DTS HD Master Audio to something like DTS Es...not sure whether this is the problem of the xbmc beta or the rip. It plays fine in mpc-hc though.

Yes the BD menu support is still not available. But going thru the xbmc forum as I can see developers are working on it and we should be able to get it by this year end. But I can live without the menus as I do not even go thru the menus on my BD player as well.

Is the As far as I can remember DTS ES comes into picture for 6.1 channels audios (there is matrix and discrete variants) so you need to check if the same is happening for other rips as well. If so then check under XBMC>Settings>System>Audio and see if output hd codec (not sure exact name) DTS ES is marked there instead of DTS HD MA since I remember with this new bversion by default I was getting LPCM.

I am yet to test this for Dolby True HD will check with BDs.

Menus are very useful when you want to show any particular scene to any guest (demo the Bd or your system) or also in case of BDs like BBS documentories that have several episodes and hence a must have for me. Although I can use my PS3 for it for the time being.

Hi haisaikat

Thanks for the information. Will check those details in the xbmc with the new rc1 release.
If you are interested then you can go for the official xbmc eden rc1 release. I have just downloaded and will give it a try and install it over the beta 3 version. Will post my feedback here.

Thanks

Found the sound from Foobar2000 significantly improved with this Plug in and EQ presets combo downloaded from here.

There are about 20 presets in the folder

Edit - Thanks

Noise sharpening at 200% rocks (might be too bright for some).

Thanks again mate.

can foobar be integrated with xbmc to play music only, where xbmc will help in browsing the library?

also does foobar support mce remote>?

I'm sure you will have skins in Foobar that will let you browse music via folders/artist etc.

Not sure about remote.

I think you can do that with editing the playercorefactory.xml file in the xbmc directory. I have edited to launch mpc-hc for blu-ray rips for hd audio. So it should be possible for the same to load the music file from the xbmc to foobar. Just see the forum.xbmc.org site for editing the same. I will also give it a go for the same.

Thanks.

That must be the default sharpness setting (+110). Bright/Dark can be tweaked for each album depending on the recording (from -50 to +200). Also, works best when placed on top of the Active DSP list so that its applied before EQ stage.

I installed it over the eden beta version and faced lots of problems with respect to the scripts/metadata. Not sure whats the reason but did not find time to verify the same. I think lots of people are also facing similar issues.

Thanks.

I upped it from the default to +200. Lot more detail in it. Setting at -50% makes the music warm but loss of detail.

Not much of an EQ guy but the "Rock" setting suits me perfectly.

I think it was not just me who faced the problem with RC-1 release. Hence they rectified these issues and released the RC-2. Its beautiful and no issues so far. Far better than release 1 and beta versions. I have just overwritten on my main xbmc and no issues with the meta data or script errors. It is the best release so far with even the covers of the movie showing exactly whether it is a dvd/bluray/etc.,:clapping:
