What watch do you wear?

I wear a handwound hmt pocket watch at times. Love it. Otherwise, for me, a watch is just a means of getting to know the time. So one wears a couple of citizen's eco-drive watches or none at all. BTW, the hmt is the first analog watch that I have ever bought for myself. Howzat, eh?

Are HMT watches still available at watch shops? The HMT website doesn't give a lot of details....

Nothing too fancy for me:

- started with an HMT Vijay (hand wound) when I was in Std. X and continued with it till SY
- moved to HMT automatic; it was stolen after three years in college hostel
- Went back to HMT Vijay
- Moved to Casio LCD around 1985
- Purchased a Titan Royale just after marriage (1990) which I still wear today
- In between had a Casio Dual Time, Temp Indicator, and may be one more

Aiming for Tag Heuer some day.

Thank you Trittya, will send a PM when I a planning to buy one.

Saw this pic and it does look nice INDIA ARMY SOLDIERS HMT HAND-WIND WRIST WATCH - Listing # 8798

Yeah, it does look nice but AFAIK & IIRC, the only models made specifically for the Indian defence forces were the Jawan and the Pilot. The pilot was my first watch, gifted to me by my Mamaji (maternal uncle) in Class V. The only thing wrong with the watch was that it wasnt water resistant but one could always "heat it" under a table lamp bulb to make the water/mist evaporate. Also, it then came with a nylon woven strap that was very sweat friendly that never stinked/stank. Also. the strap passed under both the pins as well as the watch, which not only protected the underside but also kept the watch from falling off even if one of the pins came undone/broke. Loved it and still do. It was out of stock but I am going to get one soon. BTW, hmt is one of the few watch makers in the world who still make reasonably priced braille watches for the visually challenged. Its got a hinged lid that lifts up so that the dial can be felt by those who cant see. Have a look at post #542 here for the braille and 541 for the chronograph.

The pleasure is mine, mate.

The answer to both your questions/presumptions is in the negative.
I am not a member of any watch forum
(though I have a hunch FM Hemant Waghe is)
and nor is that video mine.

LOL, if I had had that kind of time in recent months,
I would have been on HFV or on my facebook group ie
THE HI-FI DIY and CUSTOM BUILDERS' GUILD.

Regards

Yes, HMT made some fantastic watches those days and still do..though they don't market themselves too well. My dad had their hand-wounds [can't remember the model] while my dad's friend had an automatic. Very elegant and timeless design that automatic was. He [dad's friend] also had a 1950s Favre-Leuba swiss watch which he gifted to me ~10 years ago.

Have the same one with blue dial. was not able to find a pic on the net. I bought is in 2001, pretty much the same time as hydra.

This is what I wear. A Citizen Eco-Drive (I don't remember what model it is). I've been using it for about 12 years now.

It is pretty much battered now as I have been wearing it nearly all my waking hours all these years. I actually rarely use it to tell time, but without it, I feel naked.

Every time I see a pretty watch that tempts me, I remind myself that the money is better spent on music, as long as the watch works well. I'll replace it with something in the 10k to 15k range when it dies.

FYI: was in Chennai last Friday, spotted HMT automatic-winding in a shop.price range 2K onwards.

I have Ardath 21 jewels watch but its needs restoration done by a professional.

I don't know if I can trust any watch repairer in Hyderabad. Any pointers folks?

TIA
