Dealers in used amps

If you in the market for hi-end gear, please follow the following rules:

1. Do not buy if the dealer will not divulge the history of the gear.

2. Pay an advance on the condition that you need to meet the owner of the gear. Most folks will not divulge the owner unless they know that you will buy. Confirm the owner is genuine / trustworthy and then pay the rest of the money.

3. Do not buy so-called "imported used gear ".

Hi,

He helped me with my Akai M8 reel to reel tape recorder and Philips HiQ receiver.

Akai M8 lovely Reel recorder. My uncle used to have one.

The single ended EL84 amps in the M8 are very very good. Will sound better than many new amps which cost a lot more.

Get yourself a nice pair of high efficiency speakers and paired with your M8 amps you will have music at home.

You can then forget about looking for other amps and stuff.

Hi,

I am thinking to buy a JBL 3 way full real wood floor stander from him, which I have auditioned it and feels blown away. But I can not afford now. Its some 30+ thousands.

Would you happen to know the model of the JBL speakers,or the drivers used in them?

Regards
Rajiv

Thanks Asit. Since Sridhar has access to this forum, I think he can put up such stuff in "On sale by Dealer" so that ppl can benefit.
I had asked Sridhar once, and he gave me reference of a client, but it didn't work out as the client wanted me to come over and I could not go to his city.

HI Anm

Are you in touch with Sridhar? Does he have any integrated amps for sale? I tried him on the ARN Systems phone but could not reach him.

Regards.

Hi Rajiv, Do you have any idea about the JBL XPL 160. Have seen the speakers in a place here and they sounded very good. Is it worth considering??

No idea of the JBL XPL160.

My experience is mainly with the older JBL's (compression drivers and their 15 inch Alnico woofers).

The non horn loaded JBL I have used/listened to is the JBL L 112 speaker. I used this speaker and a Phase Linear 400/II amp for a short period during the mid 80s.

The L112 was/is a good speaker.

sorry I am not in touch with Sridhar. In fact when I was in b'lore for a day, I was looking to meet up but then it didn't work out. He was out and others were busy.

I had similar problem. There is a guy called Ali I think. He appears to be always busy.

Thanks. I sent a PM to him yesterday and am waiting for his reply.

Regards.

He PMed me his number and we discussed at length about the various options available. He was knowledgeable and forthcoming although going against the advice given to me in this forum. He highly recommended the NAD C370 amp used with a Thorens MM005 phono pre amp instead of an integrated amp for vinyl playback. Any opinions from those who have used this combination? Will it sound better with Quad 22L2s than a Roksan Kandy L III?

Regards.
