DENON Owners thread

I have a 4 year old Denon 1312 AVR which is not working currently. These are what I have checked and found

1.4 HDMI inputs are working fine, at least audio is fine because speakers are playing well
2.HDMI output is not sending any output at all, I have checked with cables and everything it is dead

I contacted Denon Singapore, they did not reply. I wrote in Denon facebook page they did not reply. It is not new customers are often left with their misery

Now when I contacted Technoguru (I bought from them) they said "pack it well and bring it to us, we will send to Mumbai for repairing" which is simply shoddy attitude. If the AVR needs to be sent to Mumbai I can do that why taking trouble to go to Technoguru. They did not even have a technician (they boost a physical showroom) to open and at least see some basics which I have done. Well, such ridiculous after sale service is not what I was expecting from them - anyway learned the hard way.

Next contacted Kripa Electronics, Mumbai

Kei Hi Fi - Specialist Audio brands for India - Denon, Elac, in-akustik, Dune, PeachTree Audio ....

They said they are the authorized service provider in India - I have to believe since DENON does not have a India page, all they have a asia pacific (singapore only) webpage. I will be glad if someone redirects me to their India website, at least I could not locate it. Anyway they said DENON does not have a service center in the entire eastern India. Now they tried to reduce my pain - I can send the HDMI board only and at the component level costs will be around 6000/- and to replace the board 11000/-. I do not know how legitimate is what they are asking for but this much I know - a very good quality MONOPRICE HDMI switch with digital and analog audio ports costs <3000/-.

I am ready to bang my head in wall - what to do? spending >6K for the AVR that too with uncertainty or use the AVR only for 5.1 sound and buy a HDMI switch. By the way a functionally perfect 4 years old 1312 should not fetch more than 8-10K.

Please share your opinion, I am really stuck between inept "Hi-Fi" sellers and DENON who shocked me with their lackluster behavior. I have vowed not to buy a single DENON product in future not because of the product quality but their pathetic after sales service. By the way in Guwahati Yamaha and Pioneer have their authorized service centers and they refused to touch the AVR.

The price for a Denon HDMI board was about 4.5k from an authorized Denon service ctr in Bangalore 3 years ago. Since your avr is not under warranty,, look for 3rd party service centres who know how to service Denon products at a lesser coat and nearer home.

Hi,just got my Denon 1100w around 24th September.Connected and been using it for the past few days.Since it is my first avr.it amazing compared to watching movies on my tv.Am getting to know my avr and fiddling around with it to get the hang of it.

Hi Karthikeyan, I am planning to get Z1100W too; my requirement is more of music and less of movies; and am planning to hook it with Boston Acoustics HTS2310 which has A23 as satellites and 225C as centre channel; I see that you too have BAs; how is the performance?

Hi,

I was going through some threads in other AV forums and amazon.com reviews of Denon x1100w. Many users are complaining about unreliable bluetooth connectivity, front display problems within few weeks/months usage etc.
Like to hear the feedback and x1100w usage experience from the owners.

Did you finally opt for X1100W? what was the overall feedback you gathered about it?

Hi Friends,

I had found Denon X3100 on amazon.de costing 54000INR including shipping and customs. This system is 220V and hence can be used in India without any converters.

Is it worth to buy systems from Amazon.de. Are there any chances that shipment get damaged or siezed from customs.

I would say go ahead and buy.... I have extensive buying experience with amazon.de and you wont face any problem, except the customs in india delaying (4-5 Days). Amazon guarantee the safe delivery of shipment, else 100% refund.

Me too planning for a x4100 but waiting for release of x4200 which may push down the price of x4100 a bit.

All d best....

Friends,

I had a weird issue with my AVR (Denon 2310CI /110v) yesterday. I realized the Left Speaker has no sound. So checked all my AVR settings everything was normal. increased Left channel volume to +12db and start getting a very low sound on it.
I reset the processor on AVR, did basic config and ran Audeyssey without any success. Audessey was reporting error "Very low volume or No Speaker connected". The right channel was normal but left chennel was have very very low sound, I swapped left/right speaker terminals to verify any cable/speaker issue, and the problem remains with left channel in AVR.
I had a shock and start presuming that the left channel in AVR is dead and a big dent to pocket is inevitable :)

After powering down the AVR, gave a rest of 15 minutes, and powered up again with the processor reset, and holy cow!!! the left channel is alive again.

I have this AVR since past 3.5 years without any issue, and I have played a lot with it. It never gave me such a shock like this. After this, I played it for 2 hours continuous with decent high volume, no problem noticed, no heating no tripping, sounding as sweet as before :). I am not sure what happened yesterday & how it recovered....

Has anyone such experience, what could have gone wrong!!!! Do people think it is a warning of aging AMP and its time to buy a new AVR ...

Hi Ajay, I have had a similar experience not with my Denon AVR but a subwoofer amp. I owned a Polk PSW125, which worked without any problems for initial 1.5 years but starting giving very low volume occasionally (almost inaudible murmur) . It would get corrected on its own when I tried to troubleshoot by disconnecting connectors and doing power resets multiple times (just re-run Ning Audyssey never helped). However, after a year's time the amplifier of the subwoofer completely packed up (had sent it to the service center). Not sure what caused it but now I have upgraded to DSW550 and keeping my fingers crossed [emoji4].

Hi,

Thanks for the advice. I was bit worried to shed 50K+ for AVR that will be coming without warranty in India. Bu though when I accounted that X3100 costs 90K in India and hence this deal was steal for me.

Lets hope that this deal won't be giving shock to me. Keeping fingers crossed.

I dont know what this makes me.

I have a bought used Denon from 2005 which is still working. I am using it still without any problems.

If AVRs pack off after 3.5 years, there must be something wrong with the general generation of AVRs, that is all (Mostly HDMI related I guess).

I hear that Denon X1100W is discontinued and replaced by X1200W; which only adds ATMOS; Can anyone tell me where I can find X1100W in Mumbai at good price?

Alot of issues pertaining to Denon can normally be solved by factory re setting the receiver 4, 5 times.

Hi,

Yes indeed I got an amazing deal from Amazon.de and shipment was shipped from Italy by Denon authorised dealer. Shipment was shipped via DHL.

It took 5 days for shipment to reach at my doorstep. 3 days the shipment as in customs for clearance. They opened the box for examination of product. Same information was conveyed to be by DHL person.

Yes I needed to provide KYC. Any shipment holed up by customs needs KYC for further clearance. I will also like to point out that make sure to order your shipment on address where you don't need to pay Octroi (I ordered my shipment in Delhi as I needed to pay octroi if shipment was done to Noida - This information was given by DTDC and hence i did according to their instruction)

Hope I answered your queries.
