I have a 4 year old Denon 1312 AVR which is not working currently. These are what I have checked and found
1.4 HDMI inputs are working fine, at least audio is fine because speakers are playing well
2.HDMI output is not sending any output at all, I have checked with cables and everything it is dead
I contacted Denon Singapore, they did not reply. I wrote in Denon facebook page they did not reply. It is not new customers are often left with their misery
Now when I contacted Technoguru (I bought from them) they said "pack it well and bring it to us, we will send to Mumbai for repairing" which is simply shoddy attitude. If the AVR needs to be sent to Mumbai I can do that why taking trouble to go to Technoguru. They did not even have a technician (they boost a physical showroom) to open and at least see some basics which I have done. Well, such ridiculous after sale service is not what I was expecting from them - anyway learned the hard way.
Next contacted Kripa Electronics, Mumbai
Kei Hi Fi - Specialist Audio brands for India - Denon, Elac, in-akustik, Dune, PeachTree Audio ....
They said they are the authorized service provider in India - I have to believe since DENON does not have a India page, all they have a asia pacific (singapore only) webpage. I will be glad if someone redirects me to their India website, at least I could not locate it. Anyway they said DENON does not have a service center in the entire eastern India. Now they tried to reduce my pain - I can send the HDMI board only and at the component level costs will be around 6000/- and to replace the board 11000/-. I do not know how legitimate is what they are asking for but this much I know - a very good quality MONOPRICE HDMI switch with digital and analog audio ports costs <3000/-.
I am ready to bang my head in wall - what to do? spending >6K for the AVR that too with uncertainty or use the AVR only for 5.1 sound and buy a HDMI switch. By the way a functionally perfect 4 years old 1312 should not fetch more than 8-10K.
Please share your opinion, I am really stuck between inept "Hi-Fi" sellers and DENON who shocked me with their lackluster behavior. I have vowed not to buy a single DENON product in future not because of the product quality but their pathetic after sales service. By the way in Guwahati Yamaha and Pioneer have their authorized service centers and they refused to touch the AVR.
