onkyo hts 3300

If anyone is interested they are demo'ing 3300 in Bangalore, Onkyo showroom at Sigma Mall, Cunningham road.
They just called me to let me know the same. ( They said it will be ready by toda, 4PM)
 
Thankyou sumit. I think i have to place my sub away from wall. Today i will do an extensive calibration .is asian version having same 660 or 720 rms watts?

Only for Japan version (JEITA) its 120 watt/channel. All other are 110 watt/channel.

Do let us know once you do subwoofer calibration.

I called up the Onkyo helpline in Mumbai and there i was suggested to go to Mulund R Mall or Beat 99.
I am planning to buy it this weekend. If anyones interested we can try for a bulk deal.
 
After setting audyessey to off and increasing sub db level to -1db it sounds good. Is this 660 watts at 6ohms is equal to 1000 watts sony htib at 3ohms?

Tomorrow I am going to visit RMall - Mulund.
They offered 25K, for HTS3300 and giving Philips DVD Player for 900/-.
not sure which model, but will go there and check.

Guys, the Onkyo HT 3300 in Mumbai is a struggle and nothing closer to south mumbai. Also, the only store closest that has it is in Andheri for an audition.

So if anyone hears diff please let me know - I think even i heard the price of Rs 24k for the system.

Also, there is a new phillips range - the 5550. How does it compare? or does it not ...:)
 
This is a very good model value for money. It has 3 HDMI inputs which can pass through audio as well.

I got this for 25K from onkyo, alwarpet. They have a demo at their office as well. Those who are interested can talk to Venkatesan 98414 01631. If you like you can say referred by "Thirumalai". Just received yesterday and hears good.
 
Check Page 37 of User Manual, they say something of that sort.
HDMI Passthru in STANDBY is useful function, most of time we don't need
5.1 for example if you are watching news on TV , you certainly didn't want.
Do report about your results.

What else you got with the set ? I inquired at Whitefiled, Bangalore , they said no installation(drill etc, they will do basic setup of recv), no HDMI cable.

I didn't ask for it, I am renovating my house, so asking electrician to put conduits and through my in-law, I will be installing it myself (of course there is nothing rocket science on this as long as you figure out the speaker locations).

But they said they do installation, but drilling etc., they will come and just set it up.
 
I got HTS-3300 Yesterday from Modern World, Costed me 24,990. He refused to budge :P

In any case, I had a go at HTS-3501 ( Or was it 3505? ). I liked the bass in that better. But that is another 5k away, and Im already streched! Plus I wanted Audio Via HDMI.

I will be putting up Unpacking pics and final setup pics here soon.

I also got a pair of speaker stands (height adjustable, and with path for cable) for 1.5k and HDMI cable of "NT" brand for 700 bucks.


Checked avatar blu-ray a bit, sounds good! But I loved the speakers, when I played uncharted2 on DTS! You can easily locate where the bullets are coming from.


Lastly, I noticed that Onkyo's sub is not very tight. My previous make-shift audio duty was done by ATP-3, and as some of you know, it has one of the best subs for their money. Also, it has something to do with the fact that ATP-3 was sealed and Onkyo has a ported one.

Just one question, this is not directly related to HTS3300, Does anyone have any idea on how prevent PS3 from decoding the audio for Blu Ray rips with AC-3 soundtrack?
I would like my Onkyo to decode the DD5.1 which is on some of the movies I have.


If anyone is interested in Bangalore, Modern World has imported about 20 boxes this month. There are plenty available :)
