Panasonic V20 Owners Thread (Settings, Problems, Impressions, Questions)

manu, thanks. I had checked right then on the website, it was still listed. Getting it seems to be an uphill task.

Kittu, any particular store in Bangalore?

Btw, how do the particular Sammy plasmas compare to the V20?

Why dont you consider the Sammy plasma in the Shocker price thread? 50incher for 67k is a killer deal..... Talk to MBR ....

V20 was available in Girias , Rajajinagar branch.

Thanks to the inputs(especially pics) on this thread, I recommended the Pana v20 to my Father-in-law. During Diwali, he had almost finalised a Sony 40 inches (can't remember model) for around 80k when I told him to demo the v20. He paid 62k at the Panasonic showroom in Rajajinagar, Bangalore. He is very happy and IMO looks like a million bucks ....love the matt silver grey finish.

My Pana 42C10 looks , the Pana PV8 looked much better in dull black.

kittu, I had seen it. But 50incher would be too big for the room in which my friend plans to use it.

Hi Guys
The TV got installed and i watched Avatar Blu-Ray Rip and the PQ was awesome.
It was a full screen Rip.
In order to prevent Burn in i am watching all the movies in full screen.
Zooming some of the movies.
I have left contrast at 30 and brightness is zero
Should i do anything else to prevent burn-in?

Also i want to know what formats are playable through USB
Will it play .mkv files?
Also the audio is dolby digital?
Is it 2.1 or 5.1?

Thanks

Got myself a P42V20D. Cost 65k all inclusive. Right now I have a cable connection and awaiting Tatasky to got their HD STB.

Till now didn't get the time to watch a movie, but did watch parts of Top Gear at the North Pole - Mind Blowing.

I have a requirement - I am thinking of getting a APC UPS for the TV. Since we have a Diesel Generator in our building, there are some voltage spikes during changeover at low loads - daytime on a weekday mostly.

TV - 350W

Min output needs to be 400W.

In that range APC Model: Back-UPS RS 800VA 230V India is the minimum available.

Any other suggestions are welcome.

Thanks in advance.

No .mkv sadly...some divx downloads also don't work...problem with the particular encoders maybe....most of my divx plays good....Dolby 5.1 and 2.1 don't matter till you have a 5.1 system connected thru the optical out of the cable.....it does downmix the 5.1 and gives out good sound. but alas I have a yamaha 663 and I never listen to the TV audio even if I have connected the hard drive to it :)

Hi Guys
Today i was watching a movie and in some dark scenes i could see the dancing pixels.
Any ideas?

When there is a scene with brightness there is no issue with the PQ but during dark scenes damn these dancing pixels

Is there any tweaking that i need to do to prevent this?

Any inputs would be appreciated.

Thanks

You cannot eliminate dancing pixels completely. You can adjust the brightness to minimize them though. One more thing to remember is that many films have loads of film grain and you shouldn't mistake film grain for dancing pixels. (The way to differentiate the two is to examine a paused screen. When paused, film grain will stop dancing.)

By the way, I have noticed a problem in this TV when playing games. There's a bit of line bleed. It isn't apparent in movies but it becomes apparent when scrolling through game menu screens. Also, I was able to notice this because I sit very close to the TV when playing games (4 feet).

This is a beautiful thread on V20. I am very impressed with its PQ in the showroom and thinking to purchase one.

My use will be mainly Blu ray disc playing through BRP (Sony s370). Also, I have quite a number of .mkv HD download movies. If I purchase a HD media player to play those .mkv files and connect it with 42v20 through HDMI, will 42V20 work?

Please pardon me for my silly question.

Hi Kittu, Can you tell me where was the quote of 60k from? I and my friends are looking for 3 pieces actually. Would be great if you can suggest some good dealers.

that was not from bangalore. Bangalore one member picked for 61k with hdmi cable. Try modern world if you are looking for 3 items... You can definitly bargain a good price. Or Girias...

I got 42V20D for 61000 from Griha Vaibhav, Bangalore. Its still in the box though, installation may probably get done on Monday.

Last week the LCD/LED TV prices have been substantially lowered by Sony, Samsung. Is there any chance for lowering the Pana Plasma price, at least before Cricket World Cup in Feb'11?

Anyway, 61k is a good bargain price. At Delhi I got the best price 63k.
