Panasonic V20 Owners Thread (Settings, Problems, Impressions, Questions)

Hmmm that solves one of the worries. But the 3 year warranty? Do we still have to write the warranty card back to Panasonic? I still did not get mine. The last time I asked it 'May still be under processing', is what I got as the answer.

HI there V20 owners,
I came to know about Pana V20 through this forum and decided on buying the 42V20 but too my dismay when i called up Panasonic Brand shop ,Mumbai they said its discontinued :sad: !

Its not a problem with Viera link, the TS STB doesnt support control over HDMI so regardless of the TV brand you cant control the TS STB using the TV remote. For the a device to ve controlled using HDMI both the host and the source device should have the capability inbuilt, In this case you TV (host) does have the capability but the TS stb doesn't.

For controlling multiple devices including Tata Sky STB get a specialised remote like Logitech Harmony; I'm using Harmony 525, a slightly older model (got for 2.7k), and control upto 10 devices with it including Tat Sky+ HD...

Dear Kamal - Viera link is a panasonic propriety product and is compatible only with panasonic hdmi peripherals that have viera link support. It does not support tata sky hdmi or other non supported hdmi products

@rajan

Viera link ofcourse is designed specifically to work with Panasonic products just like how Bravia Sync is supposed to work with Sony products. However most hdmi products support hdmi control regardless of the brand, i can control my Sony PS3 (movies and full xmb navigation) using my panny v20 remote, also i have a Sony hdmi dvd player which can also be controlled for common functions using the Panasonic remote over hdmi.

The TS STB itself currently does not support hdmi control which is a shame, i can uderstand that replicating options like organizer, settings, showcase may not be possible but basic navigation could have been implimented.

My friends LG Led tv can control airtel stb and also blue ray player through tv remote, though not all functions are available on the TV remote. The airtel STb can switch the tv on and off as well as tv volume.

I tried connecting TS hd to hmdi port 4 which is the only port on hdmi 1.4a on panny and still no luck.

My V20 remote can control the volume control of my Denon 1911 since they are connected via HDMI. However the devices like PS3, ASUS O!Play Air that are connected via HDMI to Deno cannot be controlled. Denon remote needs to be configured for that.

I have been quoted Rs. 102,000 for P50V20D, Rs. 68,000 for P42V20 and Rs. 66,000 for P50U20D from the Panasonic Brand Shop in Pune (Baner Road). Blacks in V models are definitely superior. TataSky HD looks at par on V and U models.

The Samsung Brand shop had only one model to display, a 42". I think it was C450 as that salesman said that it was not Full-HD. I asked the salesman about Series 5, 6, 7, etc. He said, "Series 5, 6, 7 applies to LCD/LED only and not to plasma". What a moron!

I have not been able to decide as yet.

As i mentioned earlier the TS STB itself doesn't have that as a feature, if it can be included as a firmware update for basic functions like channel switching and volume control then it would be good. ...

Price for V20D in the Baner shop is too high. I bought the tv from the same shop for 60K in October last year. The current price should not be more than 58K (without exchange)

Thank you. All the prices quoted are without exchange. He is willing to knock off 6k for old 29" CRT. But I will yet negotiate further.

68k for 42 inch is too much, the price here in B'lore is within 61k, you should bargain w\o exchange for 57-58k and still keep the old CRT :)
