Yamaha AVR owners thread

Whenever you switch off the AVR with your remote it goes in standby mode. If you see the red light on the top left corner then its in stand by.

What red light? There is no light on the front panel of the AVR. May be you are talking about some other model/brand.

Red light/LED appears if the AVR is set to Standbuy passthrugh in Yamaha. If not, then there wont be any light seen.

Precisely. If standby passthrough is disabled, there won't be any redlight indicator even if the unit is plugged in...

Guys this is getting really scary. Can any one of you post a pic, where I can find this light. I have never run after a light this much, that way I'm doing now :-)
Santy since you own a 471, can you show me how you get to stand by mode. Preferably over a picture.

Thank you.

Thank you Spiro. I definitely don't have this thing. Just checked on internet and it seems the new versions of RX V371 do not have a standby mode option in it. This is pathetic! I feel I'm really in loss. Why would one want to buy an AVR, if it has to be switched-on all the time for other source and output to work, that are connected through AVR? I thought the basic function of having an AVR is to serve as a receiver. Damn!
I switched off (completely, no standby option so far) the avr, while keeping the STB and TV on. There is some sound but very minimum, even when the STB volume is turned full and TV half way. Also the sound is breaking. Does it mean there is some problem with the AVR? Any clue?
Assuming there is no standby mode, what is the way out to keep switching between TV and AVR, without changing jacks from TV to AVR in rear panel, everytime. Is there any switch which does not decrease sound quality.
Damn I'm getting so irritated :-(

Howz 671's music performance..?? M planning to sell off my current AVR and Amp and then go for a single AVR which is gud for music too... any suggestions..??

Dear Friends,
Please accept my entry in this thread.. well partially.
Partially because I have purchased and got the setup but the dedicated room for it is under construction, therefore the system not fully installed yet. Moreover, I am completely inexperienced in setting, configuring and fine tuning such system. I will be needing lot of help from the fellow members as this thread was most instrumental in my decision in favor of this system. Indicative charges of an expert looked too discouraging to me; Rs. 7 K. for a visit from Delhi to Ghaziabad.
Now the setup. RX-V671, Wharf Diamond 10.7, 10CS, 10.2, and SPC10.
Source; not yet decided. hanging between, media player, BD player and PS3. Your opinion will be helpful here too.
Rgds

Congrats on your purchase.
Choice is simple.
If you are into gaming and you will buy BD movies go for PS3
If you can build your collection of BD go for disk player. Can play downloaded movies also.
If you watch only ripped movies go for media player

Hi All,

What is the best price for Yamaha RX-V671 right now.. M planning to get one..

Now I have got the Jamo sub200 and connected to my 571. After I did the YPAO setting not satisfied with the sub's performance. So tried to make the changes in the receiver. I am getting the crossover frequency as 200Hz which is default selected and I am not able to change the same to 120 as my energy speakers can go down till 120. How do I make this change in the receiver.

Thanks

Once done YAPO,go to manual setting where same YAPO results are shown, now you can change the CO to 120Hzs.

How does the yamaha 671 compare to the marantz Sr5005 ?
Both are capable AVRs.Yamaha is better in movie performance(surr effects) & 5005 good for music.Yamaha US models sounds better to me than Asian.Take demo before you finalize.
