Yamaha AVR owners thread

Posting here since i expect most people here will havea good idea on the cost of Yamaha recievers.

I am getting the following price for the listed receivers in Bangalore. Wanted to know if this is a good price or over-priced ?

RX-571 = Rs30,500.
RX-671 = Rs39,500.

Thanks
Gaurav

Hi Gaurav

Where are you getting these prices in Bangalore? Is it with bill/warranty..i am also looking out for the 571 model to pair it with energy rc-micro speakers

Thanks

hi gaurav,

I got my 571 for exactly 30k from Mr. Lokesh of Home Theater Store, JP Nagar (proper purchase with warranty card). I think Rs. 30,500 is alright if you get some extra accessories along with the AVR (HDMI cable, banana connector etc.) which you will need anyway.

The 671 probably has a discrete amplifier stage (better SQ). But the 671 sounding better depends on how good your speakers are. The ones I have are not so good, so I went for 571 and saved 10k.

Hi

I have purchased the 571 model yesterday thru one of my friends contact in yamaha. Luckily was able to get hold of one of the last pieces with him thru a dealer. Got it for 30k with 1yr warranty. Currently connected only the L/R with my sony bookshelves and the sound is just awesome :yahoo:. I will be getting my energy speakers in March from US, so till then have to live with the sony speakers.
Played the District 9 bd rip thru my htpc and the receiver showed up DTS-HDMA and I just got excited to hear the sound with the 5.1 set but damn no speakers yet  But unable to get the Dolby Tru-HD output from my htpc thru either mpc-hc or potplayer even though the file is encoded in. Planning to tinker with these applications to see to output the dolby tru-hd.

The DSP enhanced sound is actually playing my ipod and FM radio songs superbly better than my 10 year old sony hifi. Sadly there is no ethernet port to listen to the online radio stations. I think this feature is available only on the US and European versions. Will post the entire setup once I connect all the speakers.

Thanks

I recently bought RX-V671 to replace my older JVC amp. JVC was more powerful but this one has better fidelity.

Congrats buddy. Did you get it through Prankey? I am bit confused when you say contact in Yamaha as far as I know there is no Yamaha owned outlet in Bangalore. Enjoy your purchase.

Hi letsrock

Thanks buddy..

No not thru Prankey. My friend actually is the country head of one of the interconnects for audio visual products manufacturing and they supply to Yamaha as well. So thru him I got the product delivered from a dealer for 30k with 1 yr warranty. In fact this model is not even listed in yamaha's indian site. It lists only 371 and 671. It is marked as made in Malaysia on the model which I got it.

Thanks.

@manniraj,

Check if your unit has pre-outs ? :) May be Malaysian units will have....

Hi kittu

I am not sure how they to verify the pre-outs on the back of the receiver. Would it be written as pre-out or something else :o. But the dealer told me that I can do bi-amp with 2 channel which I am not sure how/where I will use it.

Thanks

The Bi-amp is from the surround back ports.

Hi,

Is the RXV 667 model still availaible in Mumbai. As far as I have gathered this AVR is the best amongst the lot since 4 years.

Secondly, If I am able to get an AVR Yamaha/Denon from the U.S., will I be able to use it flawlessly by using the step-down transformer. (Since the AVR stuff we get in U.S. works on 110 V)

Regards,

JAYANT

I would advice you to consider the amazon germany route. The price might be slightly more when compared to US but the advantage would be the voltage being the same for India and Germany. Anyway in both of the cases you will be loosing the warranty so better to get which works on indian voltage. Just my 2 cents...

Thanks

Hi,

How is the deal of a Yamaha V471 at 28,450 + 800(shipping)

Ebay link

In my opinion v571 for 30k will be best bet compared to the deal in ebay. If you add the total amount with shipping it is coming to 29250, you need to just put in 1k to get the v571 model with bill and 1 yr warranty. So I suggest look for v571. I got the 571 for 30k with bill and warranty and gaurav_s got it for 30k from the yamaha dealer in Bangalore. You should be able to get it around the same amount in Kolkata as well.

Thanks.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
