I bought RX-V371 from e-bay India 2 weeks back. I had gone through all the threads which refers Yamaha receivers in our forum and obviously this one, before the purchase, which made me prefer Yamaha over Denon. Currently connected to my BOSE Acoustimass 3 in a 2 channel set-up and the source being a Lenovo Z570 connected to 371 thru HDMI. The sound quality is just awesome compared to my existing SONY hifi and the DAC with Burr-brown chips just does wonders! :yahoo:
Planning to take it to my hometown in Kerala where I have 2 pairs of SONY bookshelves and a custom made center channel to pair it with. Will upgrade speakers and add subwoofer later, but not soon due to budget constraint.

My Yamaha 667 + Wharf 9.5 + center.
When I play PS3 with AVR , I feel the sound is superb at -25db. When I play audio songs from PS3 also, sound is good at -25db.
But when I watch normal TV from Airtel STB(HD), I am getting good sound only at -20db to -18db. do I have to set/tune something in my AVR?
(except Movies now HD, connected optical cable from STB to AVR yesterday only)
Hall is in L shape, size of square will be 14x14. viewing distance is 12 to 13feet from speakers.
PS: I have used YPAO, Yamaha 667 shows Front as large.

Same here.Its the STB which has low digital output.
Hi, I have noticed in some of the snaps posted here in hfv forums had the avr/amps connected to a normal 5 amp (or I thought so) power socket. Is it not necessary that the avr/amp should be connected to a 15 amp socket ?

A 5A socket is enough as it can handle 5x240=1200W minimum. Use a good brand socket.
You can set the volume gain for each input channel individually. Just look for the settings or go through the manual. This way you can have same volume level for all input channels like HDMI1, HDMI 2, AV1, AV2 etc. even if one or more of them has less gain.

Guys please help me with best matching 5.1 spkrs with AVR 471.
my living room size is 17x10.[rectangle]. with distance from front to rear spkr is 9-10ft.
I am confused searching and reading all threads, some say go for polk,whardale,jamo 606/426 etc,yamaha 440 etc.
Only concern is that the spkrs i buy shoud not be overkill for my avr. as this is my 1st setup there is no experience.
mainly looking for good sound,clearity,depth and it shud not be harsh for ears after long listening.[music and movies].
Please help with suggestions, dealers or deals numbers and URL will be helpfull.

hello guys
i just brought my first avr 471 from ebay from universal corp via delhi shiped to mumbai with 1yr warranty.
But the model is made in malaysia and there is a difference in the rear paneel betn this make and reviews found in USA uk make on amazon cnet.
My concern is how to check whether this is genuine before i release payment tomorrow.
On the reear back panel:
The yamaha logo is placed in the mid of the right hand corner of this make as compared to YAMAHA 471 shown in Amazon cnet,YAMAHA logo is at the upper right corner. also the speakers inputs have banana plugs.???
How do i know whether this is a genuine buy and check it for its aunthenticity before releasing payment.
PLEASE request folks who have preowned 471 to help.
note:i still have to buy matching speakrs, so i cannot auditioned.
Please post reply asap as i will have to release payment tomorrow.

There is difference in the back panel of yamaha avrs manufactured for asia, us etc. If it is manufacturer warranty, you don't need to worry. The binding post connectors are better than spring type connectors. You don't need banana plugs to connect your speakers. There is option to insert bare speaker cable.
My AVR has the Yamaha logo on upper left corner and its made in Malaysia. Its highly unlikely that you have got a duplicate. Its just not easy or worth to make a fake avr that works.
What is the sellers reputation? I think its 100% for 73 items. In any case, you don't have to worry as long as you are promised with warranty. I can't see anything mentioned about it in the listing. Check that out.
What price you bought? If its 27500+800, I must say you paid too much. Its available for less than 25k.

In India the general standard is 230V, 5A.
Equates to : 230 X 5 = 1150 watts
But again this is the maximum and not a constant. Under heavy load conditions (say a hot afternoon with all the A/C's in your locality running with full power) this can a dip down to even 800 watts.
Considering you are getting a constant 1150 watts(which is rare) from your wall AC outlet your AVR's pre-amp/ video circuits/ protection circuits/ LED Display will consume nearly 100 watts total. So from the left 1050 watts you will be able a pump a maximum of 1050 / 0.75 (max efficiency factor of class AB amps) = 788 watts max to the speakers under rare conditions.

Now considering that my Yamaha DSP-Z9 having a 1500 watts toroidal transformer having a 250V/ 20A main fuse, a 230V/ 5A connection is not sufficient.
Z-9 needs to get a 230V/ 15A connection. Then only we will be extract the max out of it.

Is this product GENUINE and will be valid India YAMAHA warranty support. He said it will have 1yr warranty and bill.
PL let us know if its ok to keep other i will return him. Still to releeasee the Payment.

I brought my 571 here in Bangalore from the Yamaha dealer itself. Even this is made in Malaysia so do not worry. I have also got 1 yr warranty. It is sold in India but made in Malaysia so enjoy the receiver.

As I already said, the product is genuine. But you could give a call to Yamaha and ask if they will honour the warranty of products sold by Universal Trading Corp, Delhi- they will immediately confirm. Most likely they will.
