PL let us know if its ok to keep other i will return him. Still to releeasee the Payment.

URGENT

You bought from e-bay?
I bought from e-bay and got shipped from Universal Trading only.
I checked with Yamaha support center through phone quoting serial No. and they confirmed it is a genuine item.
IIRC, my RX-V371 is made in China and not Malaysia.

Considering that networking features are not a deal maker in India when it comes to AVRs, does a lack of 'Direct Mode' be a decisive factor to upgrade to 473 from 373. The only major 3 features that 473 has which 373 lacks are - networking, addition of direct mode and better connectors (373 has spring loaded for center and surrounds) at the back.

The price difference between the two is close to $150 !

Kneo, I was really enjoying the internet radio and dlna streaming on my 671 when I had it and I do miss it really badly on the stereo amp I have currently. And forgot to mention it was fun controlling the avr from andorid and ipad :).

Too many ifs involved in internet radio - if you like english music, if you have good bandwidth, etc. For average users like me, regular FB or music files would be good enough right?

As I see it, the ifs are what you already know the answer for when you are planning for the reciever with some RnD.. I was inclined for Network receivers as soon as I saw the features because I knew I have the Internet UNrestricted 15~4 Mbps(After 40 gigs) and am an average user in Hyderabad... (Trust me many people here go for the same net provider that I am using just because of the speed. )

I feel that my AVR is well worth the price and I am in total support of Network Receivers. In major cities atleast the network features can be exploited thoroughly... the Radio clarity for few channels is way better than expected...!! In addition you can always add the AVR into your pre existing Home network and share music files (MP3s :( )Controlling zones using PC n running the Avr using my phone.. etc.. is a boon !!!.. It all boils down to..do you need/ want it for the extra green that you fork out ...u willing to use it !!
 ..

kneo, there were two malayalam radio channels in the avr's radio stations list and I was really surprised. I had listened to it a lot and I could find anything in there, from Hindi, tamil, punjabi and any genres in world music that I can think of. Quality was really good too! I hope am not confusing you with your purchase decision, but I just wanted to let you know in case you miss it later when you know about it !!

Good to know. Basically I am on a 2 Mbps usage limit restricted ISP and I am not sure whether it'd be worth it to use music streaming. The primary user is going to be my wife who's technology challenged. Also, my reasoning is a bit different. If I ever want to go for music streaming, I can invest in a dedicated music streaming box or maybe stream music through my phone/tablet/laptop and send the output to the receiver. That'd give me almost the same (or maybe better) performance right? I am a very value conscious user bordering on being extremely thrifty :)

I'd rather save that $150 and invest the same in a better streaming device isn't it? And no, you guys are not confusing the purchase decision for me, you are actually making it simpler by helping me out.

Guys.....Do I need to install any 3rd party software as I am unable to see / browse files from my PC to RX -v671 ? Seems I am missing some link between PC & AMP.....both are connected to my Router.........Please help.

You need to install a software to run uPNP service. I installed media-monkey for that.
You can install any freeware uPNP server.

PS: you need to define which folders you want to share.

Does RX-V 473 comes with a discrete amplifier per channel (like all Denons).
Any comments on the sound quality as compared to RX-V 471.

Sorry for the late reply.

Not noticed that you posted a query for me.

You need to enable sharing under media monkey only.

Some quick queries about 473

1. Does the USB slot in the front play music directly from any pen drives or does it require only iDevices?

2. If I have a NAS setup, can I stream music directly to this AVR via Wifi or again is it only compatible with Airplay (and hence iDevices)

3. Is there any other negative about this AVR?

Ans # 2: First I doubt whether the newer series 473 model is network enabled. Even my 571 series does not have the network capability only the 671 has. And coming to the wifi capability to play music over NAS yes this can be possible with I think upnp enabled in the NAS and a compatible wifi adaptor from Yamaha. All this should be possible provided it has network support.

Thanks
