Yamaha AVR owners thread

Time to join the gang. Bought the Yamaha 475 (along with Boston Acoustics Soundware XS).

Congrats...How is the sound quality with this pairing? Even I have satellite speakers (a Wharfedale MS-100 5.0 set with a Yamaha SW-012 subwoofer) paired with the RX-V475. It sounds ok..not exciting by any means. The receiver is at fault or the speakers..donno.

But the Boston must sound good. Read only good things about this set.

I got the AVR today and I won't be able to use it until next month (need to move to a new place where I'll set it up).

My expectations aren't huge and I wanted something scalable in as less budget as possible.

Also I tell you, tuning has a huge role to play. I'd probably want to reserve my comments for a while, until I am done spending couple of weeks with the system.

On another note, I heard the 299 HTiB and it sounded decent enough to me. Of course the tonal valance and heft was missing owing to the puny drivers but the sound was well controlled. I am assuming that the combo that I bought would sound better than that.

Hi,
Picked up the A-720 fm the US market.
Coupled it with the Wharfdale 10.5s and the Velodyne DPS.
Not yet invested in surrounds and centre.
Wondering whether I need to go in for the Wharfdale surrounds or whether I could settle for the Sonodyne ones.
Thank you.

Hi All
Got my RX V475 today :yahoo: A relative of mine picked it up from Thomsun Electronics, Dubai. I will be finalizing speakers over the weekend and will, in all probablity have a lot of set up related questions. Looking forward to help from all the experienced gurus here,

Thanks
Harsha

Speaker upgrade is possible with HTIB systems. You can add front three speakers to improve sound quality.

Hi all yamaha owners

Its feel like family here:)

I have Yamaha 298 htib purchased last august.

Till date i am not able to experience 5.1 effect on my system as its a bit confusing for me. Manual dont work for me as i am a bad reader.

My setup as below

Pioneer 610 av dvd player connected through hdmi to AVR 3065
VU 4k16 tv connected through hdmi to arc port of AVR

i tried some pirated dvds but no use then downloaded sum stuff & burned dvds but not satisfied yet.

pls guide me on this

Mumbai members most welcome if they want to help me.

Beer till monsoon starts (after that rum) on the house.

thanks in advance

Well, if you do not have a DVD with 5.1 recorded in it, even a 18yr old single malt won't help. ;)
Try with a original DVD to see if it works.

Use original DVDs which will work perfectly. Also check in DVDp setting that you have set HDMI output as "Bitstream".

I have a questions for all Yamaha AVR users.

What are the budget BS/FS that goes well with a basic Yamaha AVR purely for movies (FL & FR)? What are my options to checkout?

Please only suggest those make/models that you have experienced (owner/took demo) and found fair enough.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
