Yamaha AVR owners thread

I finally got a Yamaha RX-V775WA receiver from the US. Bought it online on Amazon and carried it back with me. Now need to look at the speakers to see what I like.

Who is the authorized dealer to purchase Yamaha receivers in Mumbai? I was planning to buy RX V475. What is indicative price? Reliance Digital, Croma or Vijay Sales only have HTR-3066 (which i believe is RX-375)
Is the difference between HTR-3066 and RX-V475 - just the network features! Do both have same amplifiers?

What are the budget BS/FS that goes well with a basic Yamaha AVR purely for movies (FL & FR)? What are my options to checkout?

In budget section,Pioneer speakers are best. Wharfedale also goes well, but not very cheap.Boston speakers also sounds good.

Vijays sales are big dealer, but you can get good discount from small retailers.like Beats99(now Shreeji),Sahakar electronics,Alliance4,Viola.

Thanks Spiro.

Yes, the BA A26 is in mind but don't know how they flare with Yamaha AVR. They are 8ohms though.
I paired them with my 667 and they were good in movies.Music some how AVR was not giving best sound. When paired with Marantz mini system, they started singing.

Thanks Spiro.

The sound was good, but not best to my liking with Yamaha AVR. The impact was missing. With marantz, they were good.

i am new to this thread and am considering of buying a receiver and 5.1 speakers to go with it. I have shortlisted the yamaha rx v475 and the energy take classic 5.1 system. Now here is the problem im planning to get this from us so obviously the voltage is 120 v 60 hz , and the energy take classic is 10 v 60 hz at 1A and im not sure about the yamaha's voltage and freq although i assume it would be same but im not sure about the current the output wattage is listed as 575 watts. So my question is what is the the wattage of the stepdown transformed i should get, will a 1500 watt step down transformer be enough to power both or could you please let me know if there are any other alternatives
thanks in advance
sujith

girish:)

hi girish,
yes it does have dolby pro logic. these are the built in decoders for yamaha rx v475 dolby digital, dolby trueHD, dolby digital Plus, dolby pro logic 2, dolby pro logic IIx, dts-hd, dts-hd master audio, dts 96/24, dtsNeo:6 :)
btw girish which are the best places in cochin to get a demo of some good speakers and receivers, i did try lulu, but they were in the process of shifting the home theater section so couldnt do the demo

hello sujithblaze,
when i checked the sites (india and usa) prologicII shows only from rx v575 and on wards.
Comparison Chart - RX-V 75 Series - AV Receivers/Amplifiers - Yamaha - India
Comparison Chart:RX-V675,RX-V575,RX-V475,RX-V375 - RX-V - AV Receivers - Audio & Visual - Products - Yamaha United States

That's why the confusion.

Did you checked at profx cochin. They have Denon and pioneer avr's with polk, kef... speakers. They have some world cup offers too.

Also, go through the following thread too

thanks girish, i guess i was mistaken about the features, i guess i read it in some site, and thanks a lot for the list of shops, btw which receiver speaker package do u own

hello sujith,
Don't thank me.Thank gurus here, who give proper guidance.I didn't do any thing. Before i joined here, i was unaware of the shops and "brands". I gone through so many threads and found the information.
Also, Please use the search option.
I don't have any proper receiver nor speaker. Me looking at rx v475 or rx v575.
Did you visit profx? I felt they are pushing for floorstanders than bookshelfs irrespective of room size.

regards
girish:)

yes i did visit profx those are the only guys who seems to have a a demo setup now. xeness they are building the demo room, hifi link they do have a huge stock it seems but didnt like the attitude, went to lulu and checked out the HK151 jbl scs 140/230 package felt the jbls were too bright i would say extremely bright the subwoofer is good though the profx guy did a demo of polk audio rm6750+pioneer 523 receiver found that the polk satellites were good but the sub lacked the punch, sounded a bit vague. xeness is the only guys who seems to offer discounts. iwas thinking of going for a blind buy on the enery take classic 5.1 when i inquired abt the energy take classic the guys from hifi link said they used to do it but no more

Hi I just purchased a Yamaha RX V475. I have a Airtel DTH connection. I've a CRT TV which is connected using a component video cable to Airtel settop box. I have a Lip sync issue. It seems the video plays before audio. Since AVR only has option to delay audio, was wondering if anyone is facing similar issue. The AVR takes audio input through optical and I use Dolby Digital for HD channels and PCM for remaining channels. Any suggestions?

Look for the make of Airtel DTH box. It is normally on the backside of the box. Now look for remote for the box under "Satellite" category in the remote code list provided with AVR. The same can also be accessed in the disc provided with AVR, else you can download the same.
Activating procedure has been given in the AVR manual.
